episode Ep.11 Songkran: Thai New Year cover

Beskrivelse

In the UK, April is all about Easter, a significant Christian festival, celebrating Jesus’ resurrection and the promise of eternal life. Common traditions involve welcoming spring and new life, spending quality time with family, the Easter bunny and stuffing your faces with overpriced chocolate eggs.  In Thailand, April is a time for celebrating the Thai new year, known as Songkran. With temperatures soaring 40°, constant sunshine and public holidays, there’s really no better time for the entire country to have a national water fight that lasts 3 days! Loud music, bright floral shirts, water pistols and face chalk = carnage, chaos and craziness!  I’ve not been in Bangkok for Songkran since 2019 so this year will be a bit different. Listen along as I talk about my favourite time of year and life’s recent shenanigans!  Don’t forget to like, follow, comment & share on Instagram, Threads, Spotify & Apple Podcasts @female.farang.unfiltered

episode Ep.16: Solo Parenting with a Slice of Dating cover

Ep.16: Solo Parenting with a Slice of Dating

What does solo parenthood look like when you're raising a child far from home? In this episode, I sat down with my good friend, Nav to talk about her experience of being a single parent and expat in Bangkok. Together, we explore the rewards and realities of navigating parenthood independently, from building a support network and balancing responsibilities to embracing the freedom and opportunities that come with creating your own family story abroad. We also discuss the challenges of dating, the realities of finding time for yourself, and how living in an international city like Bangkok can shape both parenting and relationships. Making a special guest appearance is her nine-year-old daughter, Avery, who joins us to share all about her beloved pets, her favourite places to visit in Thailand, and making memories with her grandparents. This honest, heartwarming and hilarious conversation offers a glimpse into family life, and the unique experience of raising a child as a solo parent in one of Asia’s most vibrant cities. episode Ep.12: Adoption in Thailand cover

Ep.12: Adoption in Thailand

This week’s special guest is the fabulous Gemma Mickle! A fellow expat and teacher, Gemma joins me to share her remarkable journey to parenthood, talking us through the highs, lows, challenges and lengthy process of adoption here in Thailand. Gemma and I met back in 2019 through our hairdresser when we had a brief introduction and Gemma had started the adoption application process. Now, 7 years later, she is mummy to a gorgeous daughter!  As someone who recently froze my eggs and is considering different routes to parenthood myself, this is a conversation I’ve been really excited for! Whether you’ve adopted a child, are adopted yourself, are considering adoption in the future or are generally just interested to hear from someone who has done it solo, then this episode is for you!  Don’t forget to like, follow, comment & share on Instagram, Threads, Spotify & Apple Podcasts @female.farang.unfiltered
