En: In the old brick orphanage, not far from the center of Praha, there was silence everywhere, except for the distant sound of children's laughter. Cs: Bylo jaro a zahrady kolem sirotčince se překrásně zelenaly. En: It was spring, and the gardens around the orphanage were beautifully green. Cs: Karel, jedenáctiletý chlapec s hnědými vlasy a zvídavýma očima, se procházel po chodbách se zjevným neklidem. En: Karel, an eleven-year-old boy with brown hair and curious eyes, was walking through the corridors with evident unease. Cs: Přemýšlel o Petře, jejich oblíbené pečovatelce. En: "And don't worry about Jiri. Cs: Vidím, že vás má rád." En: I see that he cares about you." Cs: Jiri, který stál trochu v pozadí, přistoupil blíž a začal se s dětmi bavit. En: Jiri, who was standing a little in the background, stepped closer and began to talk with the children. Cs: Byl laskavý a dětem ukázal, že je ochoten naslouchat. En: He was kind and showed the children that he was willing to listen. Cs: Karel cítil, jak se jeho strach pomalu rozplývá. En: Karel felt his fear slowly dissolve.
