An inductee into the Mississippi Sports Hall of fame, and named to the exclusive Southern Miss Legends Club in 2003, Kay James has an impressive coaching career spanning over two decades at Southern Miss, where she amassed a 403-224 record. She’s a four-time Conference Coach of the Year in both the Metro Conference and Conference USA, and prior to her time at USM, she coached Berry College for five seasons, winning a national small college championship in 1976 with an 85-20 record. Her combined coaching record stands at an outstanding 488-244, placing her among just 40 NCAA coaches in history with 450 or more wins. Kay led Southern Miss to 10 post-season bids and developed 16 All-Conference players, including four Players of the Year and one All-American.
