TABOO - The Unspoken Truth about Women's Health with Helen Lambert
In this episode, Sarah and Miriam talk to film maker, Helen Lambert about her BAFTA nominated film, Taboo: The Unspoken Truth About Women's Health. Helen's film reveals the unsettling fact that women consistently receive poorer medical treatment and experience worse health outcomes than men. Challenging the narrow perception of "women's problems" as purely gyneacological this documentary takes us through moving personal stories, expert insights, and eye-opening historical analysis, as the film investigates how centuries of overlooking women’s health have shaped modern medicine and uncovers the shocking and far-reaching consequences of overlooking the health of half the world’s population. If you are interested in the health of 'the forgotten 51%', have a listen and watch out for details of an exclusive screening of the film in early 2025.

The state of women with Dr Joanna Martin
Women today really can have it all. But can they have it all at the same time? And what happens when they try? In this lively episode, Miriam and Sarah talk to Founder of One of Many, Dr. Joanna Martin. If you’ve ever felt like Superwoman, juggling a million things like crazy, this episode is for you. Dr Martin shares her views on pressures women face in modern society, particularly the dangers of 'Superwoman', including burnout and decreased happiness. She provides an alternative, more sustainable approach to power and leadership for women. Curious? This one is for all of you who already know that women can lead in a different, more empathetic and collaborative way. There’s also discussion of Miriam and Sarah’s passion project; another paradigm shift; towards gendered medicine. We hope you love this chat as much as we do! Men’s life expectancy is less than women’s. Why is that?
We are learning lots about the women’s health gap and the impact of the decline in oestrogen on health. But there is SO MUCH MORE being discovered about the impact of biological gender on health. Men’s life expectancy is on average 5 1/2 years less than women’s. Why is that? Could it be the fact that some men lose their Y chromosome as they age? And what impact does the decline on testosterone later in life have on women’s health?
