Podcast af Movies You Forgot You Forgot

Welcome to the home of forgotten films. Each week, Joe Devine & Adam Richmond discuss a different film that they’ve seen before, but forgotten existed. They discuss cinema, memory, culture and history - as well as play silly games about cheese, budgets, and re-casting. Listeners needn’t have seen the film, but are welcome to watch (or re-watch) before episodes for a different perspective. And at the end of each show, Adam & Joe read out forgotten film lists to each other, to find the film that becomes the focus for next week’s episode.

88: Captain Fantastic, Muddled Mourning and Never Going Back

This week on Movies You Forgot You Forgot, Adam and Joe take a reluctant trip back to 2016’s Captain Fantastic. What was once a quirky indie now feels like a confusing manifesto on bad parenting and questionable life choices.  They break down the film’s muddled philosophy on death, its oddball charm (or lack thereof), and why it brings the far superior Little Miss Sunshine to mind. Spoiler: some films are best left in the past. Got a film you forgot you forgot? 86: Inside Man, Denzel and Twists

Stuck in a bank for over two hours in Spike Lee’s 2006 heist/hostage ‘thriller’, starring Denzel Washington, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Jodie Foster and Christopher Plummer. Joe/Adam ponder the chilly nothingness of this plum forgot you forgot, and consider both Denzel’s greatness and why he hasn’t been in many great films. Plus, Joe’s homegrown Kevin Bacon game, alongside the classic Box Office game and the all-important Picking Next Week’s Film game.   Got a film you forgot you forgot? 85: The Artist

Best Picture Winner at The Oscars, The Artist was directed by Michel Hazanavicius and stars Jean Dujardin as a silent movie star struggling to adjust to life in The Talkies. Joe & Adam question: when is a film gimmicky? Why did Adam come in so hot? And when did Gary Neville speak the wrong language by accident?

84: Dunkirk, Christopher Nolan & Tom Hardy’s Disappointed Parents

In this episode, Joe and Adam take on the paradox that is Christopher Nolan’s Dunkirk - a stunning, cinematic powerhouse of a flick with an all-timer score from Hans Zimmers, and yet somehow… forgotten?  The guys consider Nolan, Sir Christopher - are people out to get him or is that all in Adam’s head? They also tackle the tricky topic of patriotism in war films - is it a problem here, or does Nolan stick the landing? Meanwhile, Tom Hardy gets a phone call from his disappointed parents. Plus, Joe’s homegrown Kevin Bacon game, alongside the classic Box Office game and the all-important Picking Next Week’s Film game.   Got a film you forgot you forgot?
