Beskrivelse

My guest today on the Online for Authors podcast is Jim Nesbitt, author of the book The Fatal Saving Grace. Award-winning author Jim Nesbitt has written five hard-boiled Texas crime thrillers that feature an indelible protagonist, Dallas private eye Ed Earl Burch, a cashiered homicide detective with bad knees, a wounded liver and an empty bank account. He’s smart, tough, profane and reckless: nobody’s hero—and nobody’s fool.   Drawing on four decades as a journalist chasing hurricanes, presidential candidates, neo-Nazis, cops, crooks and cowboys, Nesbitt writes hard-hitting novels bristling with relentless action, pulse-racing plots, solid storylines and a colorful cast of characters. Gritty and remorseless, these stories take readers on a thrill ride that runs from the gleaming towers of Dallas and Houston to the stark desert mountains of the Texas Big Bend country and northern Mexico.   This is hard-boiled detective fiction at its finest -- taut, tense and uncompromising sagas of revenge and redemption. With his pitch-perfect voice and keen eye for detail, Jim Nesbitt has created extraordinary tales centered on a main character like no other: the deeply flawed but wildly compelling Ed Earl Burch. They are damned good stories exceptionally well-told.   A lapsed horseman, pilot and saloon sport with a keen appreciation of old guns, vintage cars and tractors, red meat, good cigars, aged whisky without an “e”; and a well-told story, Nesbitt is also a diehard Tennessee Vols fan, who now lives in enemy territory -- Athens, Alabama -- with his wife, Pam. He is working on his sixth Ed Earl Burch novel, THE PERFECT TRAIN WRECK.   In my book review, I stated The Fatal Saving Grace is Book 5 of the Ed Earl Burch Hard-Boiled Texas Crime Thrillers series by Jim Nesbitt. I enjoyed this crime thriller and the crusty old character of Ed Earl Burch. This felt like a cross between an old western and a noir fiction with characters that weren't all good or all bad. In fact, Jim had me hoping that one of the bad guys might not have to face prison time.   Burch, as he is known to his peers, was once a lawman but had his badge taken away. Then he spent the next couple of decades as a PI before getting a badge again. However, the transition from "do anything as long as you don't get caught" to "follow the law" isn't easy on Burch or those he works with. This is especially true when it becomes apparent that a killer they thought was dead is very much alive and back at the killing game. Throw in the Aryan Brotherhood, the Dixie-Mafia, drug turf wars, and over-inflated lawman egos, and you've got a story worth reading.   NOTE: This is not a clean book. There is some rather graphic killing scenes and a bit of loud sex, but none of it felt out of character for the protagonist or his world.   Subscribe to Online for Authors to learn about more great books! https://www.youtube.com/@onlineforauthors?sub_confirmation=1   You can follow Author Jim Nesbitt Website: https://jimnesbittbooks.com/ FB: @edearlburchbooks Substack: @edearl56   Purchase The Fatal Saving Grace on Amazon: Paperback: https://amzn.to/4mmDX5z Ebook: https://amzn.to/3O0RTFE   Teri M Brown, Author and Podcast Host: https://www.terimbrown.com FB: @TeriMBrownAuthor IG: @terimbrown_author X: @terimbrown1   Want to be a guest on Online for Authors? Love Beyond Betrayal: Finding Grace After Everything Falls Apart with Author Anne Giordano

My guest today on the Online for Authors podcast is Anne Giordano, author of the book Love, Life, and the Ketubah. Anne Giordana is a retired principal from Prince George’s County, MD. She received a BA in Education in Connecticut and an MA from The Catholic University of American in Washington DC. She has four children, seven grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren. Anne lives with her husband, Charlie, in Sunset Beach, NC.   Anne is the author of three children’s books, available on Amazon: Spend, The Magic Rabbit; Scott, the Hero Dog; and Frosty, The Yellow Frog.   In my book review, I stated Love, Life, and the Ketubah is a a women's fiction love story by Anne Giordano. We meet Lucy at a ski resort. She's a beautiful, quiet Catholic girl who still lives with her parents. On that fateful day, she meets Sam, a handsome, Jewish soon-to-be doctor. They fall in love and Lucy embraces the Jewish faith and the ketubah - marriage contract - that will bind the two forever. However, she has no concerns because she knows God put them together for a reason.   Unfortunately, as with life, not everything goes as Lucy and Sam plan. When life gets tough, neither know the best way to handle their disappointments.   This is a beautiful story of love, loss, disappointment, fierce devotion, and redemption. I must say it was the saddest happy ending ever - and you'll be glad you chose to read it!   Subscribe to Online for Authors to learn about more great books! https://www.youtube.com/@onlineforauthors?sub_confirmation=1   You can follow Author Anne Giordano FB: @Anne Giordano, Author   Purchase Love, Life, and the Ketubah on Amazon: Paperback: https://amzn.to/4clQRvO Ebook: https://amzn.to/3Qx1jt4   Teri M Brown, Author and Podcast Host: https://www.terimbrown.com FB: @TeriMBrownAuthor IG: @terimbrown_author X: @terimbrown1   Want to be a guest on Online for Authors? From Anxiety to Advocacy: How One Mom Found Strength in the Chaos with Author Williow Paige Clerici

My guest today on the Online for Authors podcast is Willow Paige, author of the book Special Forces. Willow is an integrative health and leadership coach who draws on her multifaceted life experience—as a writer, speaker, mentor, military spouse, mother, and stepsister of a fallen firefighter—to guide others through their personal and professional transformations. A passionate advocate for holistic wellbeing, she combines her expertise in wellness with her gift for building meaningful connections to help clients navigate their journeys with clarity and purpose.   Known for her warm presence and deep empathy, Willow believes that every experience shapes our potential for growth. When she's not coaching or speaking, you'll find her working up a sweat, baking for loved ones, or sharing laughter with her children. Her approach to both life and leadership is grounded in authenticity, resilience, and the power of human connection.   In my book review, I stated Special Forces is a memoir by Willow Paige Clerici. I read this book in time for Fragile X Syndrome month, which happens in July.   Willow is the mother of two boys with Fragile X Syndrome, and this memoir lets the reader look at what it is like to raise special needs children, navigate divorce and remarriage, handle a blended family, and fight for your children and as well as your own needs.   As I read, I stood in awe of what Willow did for her boys and how hard she fought to make sure they got what they needed in school. She also helped me see that someone with a named special need doesn't necessarily fit a mold. Both of her sons, despite having the same syndrome, needed different interventions at school and in the community. There isn't a one-size-fits-all solution.   But Willow didn't only focus on her sons. She also let us in on her own challenges and journey towards finding mental and physical health. I loved how she figured out how to live her faith, give herself grace, and find joy even in the midst of issues. This is a wonderful memoir!   Subscribe to Online for Authors to learn about more great books! https://www.youtube.com/@onlineforauthors?sub_confirmation=1   You can follow Author Willow Paige IG: @willowpaige FB: Willow Clerici Linked In: Willow Clerici   Purchase Special Forces on Amazon: Paperback: https://amzn.to/4309fWK Ebook: https://amzn.to/48PL8xE   Teri M Brown, Author and Podcast Host: https://www.terimbrown.com FB: @TeriMBrownAuthor IG: @terimbrown_author X: @terimbrown1   Want to be a guest on Online for Authors? episode History’s Forgotten Medium: The Woman Who Took on Harry Houdini with Author Maryka Biaggio cover

History’s Forgotten Medium: The Woman Who Took on Harry Houdini with Author Maryka Biaggio

My guest today on the Online for Authors podcast is Markya Biaggio, author of the book Margery and Me. Maryka is a former professor of psychology and practicing clinical psychologist. She began writing novels in her middle years, and she’s been writing up a storm since then. Now she’s an award-winning novelist specializing in historical fiction based on real people. She loves unearthing the stories of people overlooked by history and bringing them back to life—portraying their challenges and foibles and rekindling their emotional world. She prides herself on carefully researching the period and people and providing readers with an immersive experience.   Her fiction has won several accolades, including Willamette Writers Award, Oregon Writers Colony Award, Historical Novel Society Review Editors’ Choice, La Belle Lettre Award, an Upper Peninsula of Michigan Notable Books Award, a Regional Arts & Council grant, and a Publishers Weekly pick.   She’s an avid opera fan and enjoys gardening, art films, and, of course, great fiction. She lives in Portland, Oregon.   In my book review, I stated Margery and Me is a historical fiction by Maryka Biaggio. Mina Crandon to her friends - and Margery to the world - discovers she has an amazing ability. She can talk to the dead - specifically, her brother, Walter, who died in a train accident. Before long, she has captured the attention of some very famous people and organizations - some of whom believed in her spiritual abilities and some who did not. Her biggest opposition was Harry Houdini.   This story is told from the voice of Walter, and he doesn't hold back. It seems Margery isn't a prim and proper lady. Although married to a doctor, she loves to flirt and finds comfort in many of her male supporters. And Walter does his best to dissuade her from making a mess of things - or more of a mess than she's already made.   Can she really summon the dead? Do psychics really exist? What would you have decided back in the 1920s?   Maryka based this book on the true story of Margery Crandon, and I love how she finds people that history forgot! I loved The Gun Girl and the Tall Guy, and I loved Margery and Me, too! Pick up a copy and you won't be sorry!   Subscribe to Online for Authors to learn about more great books! https://www.youtube.com/@onlineforauthors?sub_confirmation=1   You can follow Author Markya Biaggio Website: https://marykabiaggio.com/ FB: @ParlorGames IG: @authormaryka LinkedIn: @Maryka Biaggio   Purchase Margery and Me on Amazon: Paperback: https://amzn.to/4djIKAD Ebook: https://amzn.to/48PTu8n   Teri M Brown, Author and Podcast Host: https://www.terimbrown.com FB: @TeriMBrownAuthor IG: @terimbrown_author X: @terimbrown1   Want to be a guest on Online for Authors? A Past That Won’t Stay Buried: One Man’s Return to a Deadly Truth with Author S.A. McLain

My guest today on the Online for Authors podcast is SA McLain, author of the book Blood on the Veld. S.A. McLain has worked as a pizza maker, bartender, interior designer, and marketing manager. After moving to the UK from California, she got her financial planning qualifications and spent several years in financial services while writing in her spare time.   Her debut novel, When Red Is Blue, was a National Indie Excellence and Readers’ Favorite award winner. She has also written articles for websites and magazines. McLain lives in a village north of London with her husband and two house lions and loves an ice bath.   In my book review, I stated Blood on the Veld by S.A. McLain is a wildlife crime thriller set in South Africa. And, without a doubt, it is a thriller that will keep you on the edge of your seat.   We meet Christian Bekker, who, as an almost 18-year-old, kills a poacher in self-defense. However, he's convicted of murder. To avoid prison time, he and his family are exiled and lose their family land. It's now two decades later, and Christian finds himself back in South Africa and in the middle of a conspiracy theory.   Was his trial rigged? Did someone illegally take the family land? Did his father stumble upon illegal wildlife exports? Did someone kill him for that knowledge? Are they now after Christian and others who are close to him?   It's a book you won't be able to put down!   Subscribe to Online for Authors to learn about more great books! https://www.youtube.com/@onlineforauthors?sub_confirmation=1   You can follow Author SA McLain Website: https://www.samclain.com/ B: @writersamclain Tiktok: @writersamclain IG: @writersamclain LinkedIn: @Sherri McLain   Purchase Blood on the Veld on Amazon: Ebook: https://amzn.to/4tjvC4y   Teri M Brown, Author and Podcast Host: https://www.terimbrown.com FB: @TeriMBrownAuthor IG: @terimbrown_author X: @terimbrown1   Want to be a guest on Online for Authors?
