Beskrivelse

Yesterday I posted a video on my other socials about the impending arrival of my new grandson. I couldn’t poste it here because if there’s a way to post on Substack from my phone, I haven’t figured it out. My son and his wife elected for a birthing center 135 miles from here. The biggest factor in this selection was affordability. And it wasn’t affordable. Her water broke at 3am. They told her to go to a hotel and wait it out until she was closer. I was pretty upset yesterday as I listened from the hallway to my daughter-in-law going through labor in a hotel room. This is the follow-up video to let everybody know how things panned out. Resistance Education 7.2.26

One of the things I believe elected officials should do is educate voters, not just repeat consultant-tested talking points. A Facebook comment claiming that only “illegals” lost Medicaid benefits gave me an opportunity to explain something many Americans don’t know: millions of retirees rely on Medicaid to help pay their Medicare Part B premiums. When that assistance disappears, the consequences are very real. This piece isn’t about scoring political points. It’s about making sure we’re arguing from the same set of facts. As always, I welcome thoughtful disagreement. Vic Meyers for Democracy [https://vicmeyersfordemocracy.com/] This is a public episode. BMac shared this post by Christopher Armitage [https://open.substack.com/pub/cmarmitage/p/a-new-era-of-state-legislative-opposition?r=1s8o07&utm_campaign=post-expanded-share&utm_medium=web] and I’m very grateful that he did. It’s about four excellent legislative proposals that could make states stronger. Stronger states make for a stronger republic. I can’t promise to propose all four of them in my first term but I’m definitely going to propose the one I talk about in this video. First I have to get elected…..
