Beskrivelse

In this meditation, we continue the ancient contemplative practice of Lectio Divina — receiving a sacred phrase and allowing it to dwell deeply within us through repetition, silence and reflection. Today’s phrase is one of the most repeated invitations in scripture: Do not be afraid. Fear, anxiety and uncertainty are part of every human life. But the contemplative path teaches us that fear does not have to define us. Through this meditation, we gently hold the reality of our fears while also opening ourselves to a deeper invitation: trust. Together, we breathe, settle, and allow the phrase Do not be afraid to move through us, noticing what arises and allowing its deeper wisdom to unfold. This meditation is especially helpful during times of worry, stress, uncertainty or emotional overwhelm, offering a grounded practice of peace and inner stability. This meditation offers support for anxiety, trust, emotional resilience, contemplative prayer and spiritual grounding. It can be used as part of a daily meditation practice, during anxious seasons of life, or as a moment of calm, winding down and preparation for sleep. Meditation in a Time of Anxiety (Repost)

In this meditation, I reflect on how meditation can support us during periods of anxiety, stress and emotional overwhelm. Very often, when anxiety enters our lives, the first things we let go of are the practices that help to steady and ground us. This meditation gently reminds us that these difficult moments are precisely when contemplative practice becomes most important. Together, we begin by simply noticing how anxiety manifests within the body — perhaps in the stomach, chest, shoulders, jaw or breath itself. Without judgement or resistance, we learn to meet these sensations with gentleness, awareness and compassion. As the meditation deepens, we use the breath as an anchor, gradually allowing the body to soften and the breath to settle naturally into a calmer rhythm. We then move towards the still point at the centre of the breath cycle — the place of silence, peace and spaciousness that always remains available beneath anxiety and worry. This practice is not about suppressing anxiety, but about learning to remain present, grounded and connected to peace even while difficult emotions are present. This meditation offers support for anxiety, stress relief, emotional grounding and contemplative stillness. Chapters: 00:00 – Introduction: Meditation during anxiety 00:43 – Opening bell 00:51 – Why practice matters most during stress 01:48 – Grounding in the body and noticing anxiety 03:08 – Meeting anxious areas with gentleness 04:12 – Observing the breath during anxiety 05:35 – Using the breath as an anchor 07:13 – Resting in the still point of the breath 08:20 – Expanding inner silence and peace 09:19 – Divine love and the present moment 10:35 – Bringing calm into the rest of the day 11:47 – Closing bell ---------------------------------------- Hosted on Acast. Meditation on the Natural World: The Wisdom of the Beasts

In this guided Christian meditation, Brother Richard continues his Meditations on the Natural World series by reflecting on the wisdom of the beasts of the earth. Inspired by the Franciscan tradition, this meditation invites us to rediscover our place within creation—not as separate from the natural world, but as part of God's living family. Through gentle body awareness, imagination and contemplation, we learn from the animals around us: their presence, simplicity, trust and harmony with the world they inhabit. As we remember beloved companion animals, contemplate the diversity of life on earth, and give thanks for our own bodies, we're invited to grow in reverence for all creation and to embrace our calling as faithful stewards of God's gifts. Perfect for daily Christian meditation, contemplative prayer, relaxation, preparing for restful sleep, or anyone seeking a deeper connection with God through the beauty and wisdom of the natural world. CHAPTERS  00:00 – Introduction: The wisdom of the beasts 01:00 – Opening bell 01:09 – Receiving your body as gift 02:49 – Letting go of criticism 04:49 – Grounded in the earth 05:48 – Learning from companion animals 07:33 – The wisdom of all creatures 09:05 – What can this animal teach me? 10:39 – Gratitude for the beasts of the earth 11:29 – Resolution for the day 12:53 – Closing bell ---------------------------------------- Hosted on Acast. Meditation Master: Robert Lax and the Inner Garden

In this guided Christian meditation, Brother Richard reflects on the wisdom of the poet and meditation teacher Robert Lax, who wrote: "Cultivation is the turning of a jungle into a garden without destroying a single leaf." Using this beautiful image, this meditation invites us to approach our inner life with gentleness rather than judgement. Instead of trying to force change or reject the parts of ourselves we struggle with, we learn to cultivate awareness, compassion and openness to God's transforming grace. Through breath awareness, relaxation and contemplative prayer, you'll be encouraged to recognise yourself as a work in progress—already loved, already held by God, and gently growing towards wholeness. This meditation is a reminder that spiritual growth comes not through striving for perfection, but through patient attention, kindness and trust in divine love. Perfect for daily Christian meditation, contemplative prayer, relaxation, preparing for restful sleep, or anyone seeking greater self-acceptance, inner peace and spiritual renewal. CHAPTERS  00:00 – Introduction: Robert Lax and cultivation 00:48 – Opening bell 01:04 – Arriving just as you are 02:10 – Releasing tension and finding stillness 03:58 – Becoming aware of your whole being 05:24 – A work in progress 07:00 – Cultivating the inner garden 08:57 – Cooperating with divine grace 10:19 – Jungle becoming garden 11:12 – Resolution for the day 12:12 – Closing bell ---------------------------------------- Hosted on Acast. Self-Compassion Meditation: Becoming the Beloved

We often find it easier to show compassion to others than to ourselves. In this gentle Christian meditation, Brother Richard invites you to discover the practice of self-compassion—receiving yourself with the same kindness, patience and mercy that God offers to you. Through breath awareness, relaxation and prayerful reflection, you'll learn to hold your struggles without judgement, recognise yourself as beloved, and allow compassion to become the foundation of your relationship with yourself and with others. Whether you're beginning your day, winding down before sleep, or simply seeking a moment of calm, this guided meditation offers a peaceful space to rest in God's love and renew your heart. Light Meditation: Created, Inner and Divine Light

In this meditation, we reflect on one of the oldest and richest symbols in the Christian contemplative tradition: light. Beginning with the light that surrounds us each day—from candles and lamps to the sun, moon and stars—we gradually turn our attention to the inner light of awareness that shines within every human being. Finally, we contemplate what the Christian mystical tradition calls uncreated light: the divine light that is the source of all creation and the light by which we perceive every other light. Through gentle awareness of the breath, gratitude and visualisation, this meditation invites us to recognise that we are always surrounded by light, sustained by light, and ultimately held in the loving presence of divine light. This meditation supports contemplative prayer, mindfulness, gratitude, spiritual awareness and a deeper appreciation of God's presence throughout creation. CHAPTERS 00:00 – Introduction: The gift of light 00:43 – Opening bell 00:56 – Entering the present moment 01:16 – Ritual gesture and settling into posture 02:01 – Closing the eyes and noticing light 02:52 – Reflecting on sources of human-made light 03:49 – The light of the natural world 04:42 – Discovering the inner light of awareness 05:45 – Breathing light in and sharing light out 06:20 – The body as a bearer of light 07:38 – Created light and uncreated light 08:49 – Dwelling in divine light 10:03 – Resolution to notice light each day 10:34 – Closing bell ---------------------------------------- Hosted on Acast.
