The Island of Doctor Moreau Chapter 17 - A Catastrophe

In which the narrator, increasingly estranged from the grim experiments on the island, is grievously injured during a sudden outbreak of violence among Moreau’s creatures, prompting a tense pursuit into the jungle. This disturbance casts a shadow over the island’s uneasy routine, as Montgomery returns dishevelled and alarmed, recounting a bewildering episode of madness and bloodshed among the Beast Men.
