episode Maggie Hughes DePalo & Adam Gilbert: Comedy Cellar, Chicago & Gen Z | Ep. 35 cover

Beskrivelse

In Episode 35, comedians Adam Gilbert and Maggie Hughes DePalo join Pat McGann for a laid-back conversation that moves between stand-up, life on the road, and Midwest roots. Adam shares his path from Indiana to Chicago’s comedy scene and eventually to the Comedy Cellar in New York, along with the realities of touring, open mics, and the occasional rough night on stage. Maggie tells stories from the road, including a memorable encounter with Michael J. Fox at his Nashville fundraiser.  Plus, Midwest sports parenting, father-daughter dances, and why Lakeview is the best neighborhood to move to post-breakup. Rounding things out are lighter detours into skincare, life choices, and Adam’s decision to cut off the resources. 🎧 New episodes every Thursday — filmed at Tiege Hanley Studios in Chicago. 🔗 Follow The Pat McGann Show: Instagram: @thepatmcgannshow TikTok: @thepatmcgannshow Apple Podcasts & Spotify: The Pat McGann Show 🎤 Guest: Maggie Hughes DePalo Instagram: @maggiehughesdepalo 🎤 Guest: Adam Gilbert Instagram: @adamgilbert__ 💚 Sponsored by Tiege Hanley — Get 40% off your first box + free gift → tiege.com/pat Interested in sponsoring The Pat McGann Show? episode Operation Schvitz: Mitch Rosen on Running Chicago Sports Radio | The Pat McGann Show Ep. 41 cover

Operation Schvitz: Mitch Rosen on Running Chicago Sports Radio | The Pat McGann Show Ep. 41

Taking a page out of Mitch Rosen’s book, this episode was posted at 3am. (But don’t worry, we scheduled it for 9:03am). The VP of Odyssey Sports and architect of 670 The Score joins Pat and Dwayne to talk about building one of the most iconic sports radio brands in the country.  The origin story alone is worth it, a 12-year-old from Skokie writes a fan letter to an overnight DJ and ends up producing his show at WGN for $13,000 a year. From there, Mitch traces the unlikely chain of events that put the Cubs on The Score the same season they finally ended a 108-year drought, the hardest phone call he's ever made, and what "taking over Bulls broadcast rights mid-season" actually looks like in practice.  The episode closes, naturally, at the Division Street Bathhouse: 200 degrees, communal, beloved by Chelios, Belushi, and old Russian men alike. Pat and Dwayne? TBD…  🎧 New episodes every Thursday — filmed at Tiege Hanley Studios in Chicago.  🔗 Follow The Pat McGann Show: Instagram: @thepatmcgannshow TikTok: @thepatmcgannshow Apple Podcasts & Spotify: The Pat McGann Show 🎤 Co-Host: Dwayne Kennedy Instagram: @dwaynetkennedy 🎤 Guest: Mitch Rosen Instagram: @mitchrosen670_ 💚 Sponsored by Tiege Hanley — Get 40% off your first box + free gift → tiege.com/pat Interested in sponsoring The Pat McGann Show? Plan B Banger: A Career & Podcast Retrospective w/ Pat McGann & Tom Bambara | Ep. 40

40 days and 40 nights? This podcast hit 40 episodes in under a year. The Lord had other plans for our guest, so we pivoted. Consider this episode an act of faith. For the milestone episode, producer Tom flips the script and puts Pat in the hot seat for a full career retrospective. From his first open mic at Chicago and Halsted, to hosting at Zanies, getting fired into full-time comedy, and walking out to Pearl Jam at the Ed Sullivan Theater for his Letterman debut.  The two also look back at 40 episodes of The Pat McGann Show; from a conference room to a real studio, Dwayne Kennedy's philosopher energy, Bill Rancic's pasta, and the time Lio Cundiff babysat Tom’s son after he saved a baby's life.  Here's to the next 40 — and Dave, if you're reading this, episode 80 is yours. ----  🎧 New episodes every Thursday — filmed at Tiege Hanley Studios in Chicago.  🔗 Follow The Pat McGann Show: Instagram: @thepatmcgannshow TikTok: @thepatmcgannshow Apple Podcasts & Spotify: The Pat McGann Show 🎤 Guest: Tom Bambara Instagram: @tombambara 💚 Sponsored by Tiege Hanley — Get 40% off your first box + free gift → tiege.com/pat Interested in sponsoring The Pat McGann Show? episode Bringing Back the Factoids with Ryan Chiaverini | The Pat McGann Show Ep. 38 cover

Bringing Back the Factoids with Ryan Chiaverini | The Pat McGann Show Ep. 38

We're celebrating Pat's 50th with three Chicago guys and one matching outfit. This week, ABC7 Chicago's lead sports anchor and Windy City Live co-host Ryan Chiaverini joins Pat and Dwayne for a long-overdue conversation. Ryan shares what it was actually like to replace Oprah Winfrey on live television the day after she retired — including the Yahoo comment section, which was not kind. Also: Mike Tyson's tigers (he had a whole house for them), the celebrity who broke Ryan's heart the most, and John Travolta calling a piece of family history "the coolest factoid anyone's ever told me." That factoid? Ryan's dad had a song in Pulp Fiction — and the royalty check situation is exactly what you'd expect. Along the way: Route 66 road trips, the economics of lounge singing, and why Dwayne's show may leave you in tears. 🎧 New episodes every Thursday — filmed at Tiege Hanley Studios in Chicago. 🔗 Follow The Pat McGann Show: Instagram: @thepatmcgannshow TikTok: @thepatmcgannshow Apple Podcasts & Spotify: The Pat McGann Show 🎤 Co-Host: Dwayne Kennedy Instagram: @dwaynetkennedy 🎤 Guest: Ryan Chiaverini Instagram: @ryanchiaverini 💚 Sponsored by Tiege Hanley — Get 40% off your first box + free gift → tiege.com/pat Interested in sponsoring The Pat McGann Show? Matteo Lane: From Chicago Open Mics to Sold-Out Theaters in Italy | The Pat McGann Show Ep. 37

Today we are taking a trip down Matteo Lane, but first, taking a right down memory Dwayne. Before his sold-out show at the Chicago Theater, Dwayne Kennedy and Pat McGann chat with the Chicago-raised, New York-based comedian. They discuss his journey from performing a three-minute open mic at Old Town Pub to sold-out theaters in Italy, Spain, and Australia.  Along the way: why Grease makes absolutely no sense, Dionne Warwick's inexplicable omnipresence in Matteo's life, and the one phone call in 2021 that changed everything. Also, talk of Dress to Impress, not to be confused with hit reality TV show RuPaul’s Drag Race.  🎧 New episodes every Thursday — filmed at Tiege Hanley Studios in Chicago. 🔗 Follow The Pat McGann Show: Instagram: @thepatmcgannshow TikTok: @thepatmcgannshow Apple Podcasts & Spotify: The Pat McGann Show 🎤 Guest: Matteo Lane Instagram: @matteolane 🎤 Co-Host: Dwayne Kennedy Instagram: @dwaynetkennedy 💚 Sponsored by Tiege Hanley — Get 40% off your first box + free gift → tiege.com/pat Interested in sponsoring The Pat McGann Show?
