Kuvaus

Hey, we're back after a brief unplanned hiatus with another Tubi double feature for your ears. First, we pay tribute to the late and maybe kind of weird James Van Der Beek by going deep on his turn as Patrick Bateman's brother in "The Rules of Attraction" (based on the book by the 100% definitely kind of weird Bret Easton Ellis). Then, we switch gears and prepare for one of this summer's big IP relaunches by taking a look at the 1987 Cannon Pictures opus "Masters of The Universe". Why does He-Man barely use his sword in this? Could Dolph Lundgren speak any English at all at this point? And how much fun was Frank Langella clearly having? We attempt to answer all these questions and more. And of course as a palette cleanser we dive into the season 3 premiere of the Tubi original THE LESBIAN HOMIE. Come find out what E and Bruce and all of our other friends have been up to (well, not all of them, because for some reason characters on this show just disappear for extended periods of time) Thank you so much for listening. 13 - Who’s The Man? & Yes Madam (In The Line of Duty 2: The Super Cops)

Time for another Tubi double feature! This week, we start with the first and only “hip hop whodunnit”. We’re talking about 1993s “Who’s The Man” and topics include the insane uncountable number of cameos (and who got left out), white people’s genetic predisposition to love “Jump Around” by House of Pain, and how it seems impossible Denis Leary has lived this long without having a stroke. Then we leave New York for 80s Hong Kong. Our second movie is “Yes Madam” (titled on Tubi as “In The Line of Duty 2: The Super Cops” and also sometimes known as “Police Assassins”). This one is a doozy. We discuss the anatomically impossible karate moves on display throughout, whether or not this movie holds the record for most costume changes in a motion picture, and executive producer DICKSON POON. In between, we reluctantly talk about season 3 episode 4 of THE LESBIAN HOMIE. Topics include Davion being a psycho, Jason’s continued absence, and whether or not we should start covering two episodes per show to get this stupid project over with quicker. Thank you as always for checking out our show. All our links and updates about new episodes can be found on Instagram @downthetubi and feel free to email us at downthetubi@gmail.com with questions or comments. We’ll read them on the show if they aren’t too mean. DTT is proudly sponsored by Love More Coffee Company. 12 - Phat Beach & Nemesis

For this week’s double feature, we’re starting in 1996 with the seminal (and possibly only?) hip hop beach film. It’s Phat Beach! Topics include: the insane volume of fat jokes, the lack of Coolio screen time, and the upcoming remake (starring Darryl!) coming out next year. Then we jump right into the dystopian sci action B movie insanity of 1992s Nemesis. Topics include: the surprisingly rad action scenes, the lead character’s constantly evolving hairstyle, and the lack of Cary Hiroyuki Tagawa screen time. And in between, we of course dive back into season 3 of THE LESBIAN HOMIE. It’s a pretty nothing episode of a show that I’ve begun to find pretty hard to watch. But we’re committed now, and we don’t give up! Keep taking the journey with us. Only two and a half more seasons to go! Thank you for listening to our show! 11 - The Net & The Thirteenth Floor

To kick off our Tubi double feature this week, we‘re chatting about 1995's cyber thriller "The Net". Topics discussed include: Was Sandra Bullock really the right choice to play a socially awkward shut in? Was Dennis Miller really acting in this or just being himself? And how bad are all the criminals in this movie at their jobs? Next, we're in the late 90s (and the 30s) for the mostly forgotten but totally watchable sci fi flick "The Thirteenth Floor". Topics discussed include: would this movie have caught on more if it didn't come out a few months after "The Matrix”?, Armin Mueller-Stahl being not even a little American, and most importantly what Craig Bierko is doing right this second. And in between, we take our usual detour into season 3 of THE LESBIAN HOMIE. Will Tay ever admit he's dating E's sister? Will Nadia ever admit she's dating Reese's brother? Is anyone on this show ever just honest and forthcoming? And where did Bruce put the gumbo pot?! Thank you so much for checking out our little show, it means a lot to us.
