Matthew was not the sort of person people expected Jesus to call. Yet Jesus walks past Matthew’s tax booth, looks directly at him, and says just two words: “Follow me.” No lecture. No interrogation. No demand that Matthew first change his life. Simply, “Follow me”, and Matthew gets up and follows. The remarkable thing is not just that Matthew follows Jesus. LIFE not just doctrine

The Holy Trinity, perhaps the invitation is not to try to explain the mystery but rather to accept the relationship and to live within it. * To receive the love of the Father. * To follow the Son. * To walk in the Spirit. Unity in Diversity

We read, in Acts 2, tongues of fire descend, the great wind comes, and the disciples receive the Holy Spirit.  At this sound, each one of the gathered crowd heard the disciples speaking in their own language. Connection changes everything !

In John 17:1–11 we overhear Jesus praying. Not preaching. Not teaching the crowds. Not debating opponents … He prays. What makes this prayer remarkable is that it comes just before His arrest, suffering, and crucifixion.  In the shadow of the cross, Jesus does not panic.  In the shadow of the cross Jesus turns to, and connects with, His Father. Not Alone !

Last week a young lady posted a simple online message : “I have hundreds of followers online, but tonight I have never felt more alone.” Within hours, thousands of people responded. Many admitted they felt exactly the same way. Surrounded by technology, connected constantly, yet inwardly isolated. We live in a world full of communication, yet many people still ache with loneliness. And perhaps that is why the words of Jesus in John 14:15-21 are so powerful.
