Micah 3

The Persistent Widow

In Luke 18:1-8, Jesus calls his disciples to pray always and to not give up while they wait for his return. Even as we suffer and face hardship, Christ calls us to wait for the day he returns to vindicate his people. And how are we to wait? By praying always and not giving up. Our God is a just judge who does not turn a deaf ear to the prayers of his people. One day, King Jesus will return to vindicate those who’ve waited for him. Until then, he calls us to be patient and to persist in prayer to our God who has set his love on us.

A Safe Pair of Hands

Psalm 121 is a brief, yet beautiful psalm written to encourage weary pilgrims as they face the many dangers and uncertainties that threaten to undo us on the journey of life. Though the road home to heaven is a hard one, Psalm 121 reminds God’s people that we are not alone on this journey. The Lord helps his people walk this road by protecting them every step of the way home, even in death, just as he protected his Son. If Christ is your ever-keeping protection, then God’s got you—now and forever.

Psalm 77

Psalm 77 is a deeply personal lament that transitions from overwhelming despair to confident hope. When the psalmist (Asaph) faces profound distress, he questions if God has forgotten him. He overcomes this doubt by actively remembering God's historical miracles, specifically the miraculous parting of the Red Sea.

Psalm 76: The Divine Protector, Warrior, and Judge

Psalm 76 reminds us that God dwells with and protects His people. The Lord stands as a divine warrior and righteous judge who will unfailingly accomplish His will. In the end, no power can stand against Him, and every knee will bow before Christ the King.

Psalm 75: God Will Judge With Equity

This week we examined Psalm 75, a psalm of thanksgiving that praises God for His perfect and righteous judgment. While the world often appears unstable and human judgments are frequently distorted by pride, self-interest, and limited understanding, God alone judges with perfect equity according to His timing. The psalm's powerful image of the cup of God's wrath points us ultimately to Jesus Christ, who willingly drank that cup on behalf of His people at the cross, satisfying God's justice so that repentant sinners might receive mercy and grace. Because Christ has borne judgment in our place and will one day return as the Faithful and True Judge, believers can praise God for His righteous judgment with confidence, humility, and gratitude.
