God's Word and its life-changing power are front and center of the discussion in this episode. In this episode, we get to meet Vivien, a friend of Heidi's! When Vivien was serving Bob and Heidi at a restaurant, she sat down a card on their table that read, "Jesus loves you." Ep. 11 The Church I Grew Up In

We all start somewhere. In this podcast episode, Heidi and Lauren discuss Heidi’s early years. Inspired by the Tasha Cobbs Leonard song, “The Church I Grew Up In,” we walk down memory lane.  Heidi grew up in a farming community in Oregon. She shares about her country church and the people whose impact is still felt in her life today.  It all started when she was four years old and sang a solo at church. As she sang “I Have Decided to Follow Jesus,” she was moved to dedicate her life to Christ. She says, “I was stubborn enough to really mean it.”  Settle in for a storytime that speaks to the power of small beginnings and how the seemingly small choices we make impact our lives significantly.   We can ask ourselves, how are we speaking into the lives of kids and young people around us today? Ep. 10 From the Pasture to the Palace

From the pasture to the palace, in this episode, we look at submission through the life of David.  We discuss his life from being a humble shepherd boy who loved to spend his time playing music to running for his life to being a king who made some pretty serious mistakes. Through it all, David displays a surrendered heart to God and honors the authority placed in his life. As we think about submission, Let's keep our eyes on the fact that God has our BEST interest in mind. Always. Like David, we each have a calling on our life, yet we also must surrender to the Lord's timing. God uses circumstances and people to prepare us for all He has in store! Ultimately it's about surrender. A LOT hinges on your obedience to surrender to God's will for your life. It will go better for you! We encourage you to read about David's life in 1 and 2 Samuel. We need to learn to apply God's Word and the stories of the Bible to our everyday lives. When you read God's Word, ask Him, "What do you want me to learn from this?" Then ask yourself, "How does this apply to me?" The Bible is not just full of stories; it's full of life instruction for us! Ep. 9 Let's Talk About Submission

Well, buckle up as we tackle a topic that can be sensitive, but it is SO important to understand what Scripture says about submission.  Lauren and Heidi take an honest look at scripture, real-life experiences, and what submission does not mean.     God's design for submission is rooted in wanting the best for each other in love.  We know we can trust Him and the authority He places in our lives because we have seen Him be faithful over and over again.  Submission does not mean being a doormat or losing your voice. It does mean honoring God-given authority or, as Heidi puts it, "honoring the badge."  Our hope is you will walk away with a greater understanding and perhaps even be challenged to consider where your own heart is regarding submission.  Note: if you are in a situation where submission puts you in danger, please reach out for help.
