“2212 Hephaisto” è un asteroide di tipo Apollo (cioè con orbita che incrocia quella della Terra. In mitologia Efesto era il dio del fuoco, dei vulcani, della metallurgia e della lavorazione dei metalli. Era considerato il fabbro degli dèi, colui che forgiava armi, armature e oggetti divini. Quando Efesto viene rifiutato e gettato giù dall’Olimpo, avrebbe tutte le ragioni per essere distruttivo; invece si rifugia nella sua fucina e forgia oggetti, diventando indispensabile per gli dèi. Efesto, quindi, “controlla” la rabbia non reprimendola, ma canalizzandola nel fare. Inoltre non agisce d’impulso, non perde il controllo; ma definisce una strategia e progetta… Le emozioni però non vengono represse, ma nemmeno danno origine ad una reazione distruttiva; invece vengono interiorizzate, analizzate con lucidità, per trasformarsi in una reazione lucida, produttiva e utile

EP027_EN_Hephaestus – How to control anger

“2212 Hephaisto” is an Apollo-type asteroid (meaning its orbit crosses that of Earth). In mythology, Hephaestus was the god of fire, volcanoes, metallurgy, and metalworking. He was considered the blacksmith of the gods, the one who forged weapons, armor, and divine objects. When Hephaestus is rejected and cast down from Olympus, he has every reason to be destructive; instead, he retreats to his forge and creates, becoming indispensable to the gods. Hephaestus therefore “controls” anger not by repressing it, but by channeling it into action. He also does not act on impulse or lose control; rather, he defines a strategy and plans… His emotions are not suppressed, but neither do they lead to destructive reactions; instead, they are internalized and examined with clarity, transforming into a thoughtful, productive, and constructive response.

EP026_IT_Psyche - fragilità che può trasformarsi in forza

“16 Psyche” è un asteroide della fascia principale. Psiche è una mortale di straordinaria bellezza amata da Eros, che la visita solo al buio. Spinta dal dubbio, lo tradisce guardandolo e lo perde. Per riconquistarlo affronta prove durissime imposte da Afrodite. Alla fine viene perdonata, resa immortale e unita a Eros, simboleggiando il viaggio dell’anima attraverso errore, sofferenza e trasformazione. Psyche rappresenta la fragilità dell’animo umano, che può essere destabilizzato dall’incertezza e dalle difficoltà della vita (difficoltà, lutti, isolamento, fallimenti, …). La fragilità quindi è una condizione “esistenziale” dell’uomo, che a volte ristagna, si incancrenisce e logora l’animo. Ma che però può evolvere anche positivamente attraverso il superamento delle difficoltà. La fragilità, quindi, è il punto di partenza per trasformarsi e maturare interiormente, per crescere ed evolvere verso una forma più forte e compiuta.

EP026_EN_Psyche – Fragility that can become strength

“16 Psyche” is a main-belt asteroid. Psyche is a mortal of extraordinary beauty loved by Eros, who visits her only in the dark. Driven by doubt, she betrays him by looking at him and loses him. To win him back, she faces extremely difficult trials imposed by Aphrodite. In the end, she is forgiven, made immortal, and reunited with Eros, symbolizing the soul’s journey through error, suffering, and transformation. Psyche represents the fragility of the human soul, which can be unsettled by uncertainty and life’s difficulties (hardship, loss, isolation, failures, …). Fragility, therefore, is an “existential” condition of human beings, which can sometimes stagnate, fester, and wear down the spirit. Yet it can also evolve positively through overcoming difficulties. Fragility, then, is the starting point for transformation and inner growth, for maturing and evolving toward a stronger and more complete form.

EP025_EN_Elpis – Is hope truly a good thing?

“59 Elpis” is a main-belt asteroid. In Greek mythology, Elpis is the personification of hope. Associated with the myth of Pandora, it is what remains when all evils spread into the world, becoming a symbol of the fact that human beings, despite everything, continue to hope. It therefore embodies: the ability to look to the future with confidence, resilience in the face of difficulties, and the idea that even within evil there is something that cannot be lost. In our fragile daily lives, however, hope is ambiguous. It is both a support for staying resilient and a deceptive illusion. The greatest difficulty probably lies in the concrete application of hope: - when it generates energy, endurance through hardship, and acceptance of uncertainty, it becomes helpful for living better; - when it creates waiting, inertia, lack of initiative, or illusion, it drags us into the abyss… Hope is neutral—it is neither good nor bad… it depends on how it is put into practice.
