Two alleged stabbings at Queensland schools within days have prompted calls for metal detectors to be installed in Australian schools. A 17-year-old boy was hospitalised in life-threatening condition after an alleged stabbing at a Brisbane school, following another alleged stabbing incident at a Cairns high school involving a 15-year-old. Former school principal Tracey Tully advocates for metal detectors as a preventative safety measure, arguing that weapons are easily accessed and incidents involving weapons at schools have increased in recent years.
