Sola Scriptura Explained Simply
Sola Scriptura ("Scripture alone") is a foundational doctrine of Protestant theology, asserting that the Bible is the supreme and sufficient authority for Christian faith and practice. This principle emerged during the Reformation as a direct challenge to the Catholic Church's assertion that both Scripture and Sacred Tradition carry equal interpretive authority. Core Tenets Sola Scriptura maintains that: * The Bible is the infallible, divinely inspired Word of God * Scripture is self-sufficient for establishing Christian doctrine and morality * All teachings must be tested against biblical standards * Extra-biblical traditions, papal decrees, and ecclesiastical councils are subordinate to Scripture EnJoy the 2 min rundown and simplification hope it helps to better explain.
Matthew 5:13-16 Bible Study
As we gather back together this week, we will continue our study of the Sermon on the Mount. In this time, we’ll build on what we’ve already learned and press deeper into Jesus’ teaching—especially the ways it shapes our attitudes, our relationships, and our daily choices. We live in a world that can often feel dark, cold, and increasingly uncertain, but the Sermon on the Mount reminds us that our faith is not meant to stay private or passive. Instead, it calls us to live with purpose and hope, to let God’s values guide how we respond to people, how we speak, and how we pursue righteousness even when it’s difficult. My prayer is that as we study God’s Word together, we will be encouraged, strengthened, and equipped to carry the message of the Kingdom into our everyday lives.
Questioning Assumptions with Grace
When we make assumptions about someone before we have most—if not all—the facts, what we’re really revealing is often more about ourselves than it is about the individual we’re discussing. These assumptions typically reflect our perspective and biases, rather than the person’s true intentions or circumstances.
Catholicism: tradition versus truth
My intention is not to stir up hatred or mislead anyone. However, we must not rely solely on tradition or on others for salvation. Instead, we are called to put our hope and trust in the Lord Jesus Christ Himself.
