Meditations With James Arheghan
In this episode of Meditations, we reflect on John’s warning not to love the world or the things in it. The “world” in this passage does not refer to people or God’s creation. It refers to a system of desires and values that opposes God. John identifies three major temptations: the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life. These temptations promise satisfaction, possessions, recognition, and pleasure, but they cannot give lasting fulfilment. Everything the world offers is temporary. Beauty fades, possessions lose their value, positions change, and human applause eventually becomes silent. But the person who does the will of God lives forever. This meditation challenges us to examine what has captured our hearts and to choose what is eternal over what is temporary. True fulfilment is not found in pleasure, possessions, status, or comparison. It is found in loving God, obeying His Word, and living according to His will. Key Scripture: 1 John 2:15–17 Key Thought: Do not build your life around things that are passing away. Build your life around God’s Word, God’s presence, God’s purpose, and God’s will. You are loved, and you are never alone.
