Descripción

In today's episode, my friend, Jessica Fleury, shares her recent experience with perimenopause, menopause and how she is handling her new chapter. Yes this is a topic many of the women listeners may relate more to, Jessica emphasizes topics we can all learn from and keep in mind as we navigate life and any changes we go through. She reminds us how important it is to recognize symptoms, understand we don't have to live uncomfortably or just settle with things, and how we must advocate for ourselves and take care of ourselves in order to be able to take care of or be there for others. Jessica gives such great advice and perspective and the 'nuggets' she leaves remind us all to have grace with ourselves and with others and if we allow grace, we can also, in turn, have empathy. You never know what people are going through until you talk with them or try to understand. And it may be something we go through in the near future so it's important to take a step back and try to respect the process that person is going through. Jessica is an educator by trade so we certainly can learn a lot from her and the way she shares. She also suggested doing our own research and listening to podcasts like the Mel Robbins Podcast with medical experts. The book that she really learned much from was The New Menopause by Dr. Mary Haver - https://www.amazon.com/New-Menopause-Navigating-Through-Hormonal/dp/059379625X/ref=sr_1_1?crid=2JVWDKWEV0J5R&dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.NsiD6zrPzjY1dHnVPTOLecl_6T4NZtHddGdNQ20h1iH1Ad734j96bPWX-yewnsv9k0qx352io2VPqmw68sn61jKsEpQDCwqRCHg-hzKIn54TaMTb7G4YP5ogU3Te-OVeShIgtFHbyDiddXDJ_73oPD3eRjrMym8QB0n81opdHBKPXe8Ywyt9fjsSEBTqgS2MP0ywi_K27yiuSYfo82VTak4CU1vzPDJ0SAt6VU9ZR98.Jbf4gVOck4kwZKKo_Z0qmOtb-fzX9zDeD5lL6ry1fXI&dib_tag=se&keywords=the+new+menopause+dr+mary+claire+haver&qid=1782843176&sprefix=the+new+me%2Caps%2C181&sr=8-1 [https://www.amazon.com/New-Menopause-Navigating-Through-Hormonal/dp/059379625X/ref=sr_1_1?crid=2JVWDKWEV0J5R&dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.NsiD6zrPzjY1dHnVPTOLecl_6T4NZtHddGdNQ20h1iH1Ad734j96bPWX-yewnsv9k0qx352io2VPqmw68sn61jKsEpQDCwqRCHg-hzKIn54TaMTb7G4YP5ogU3Te-OVeShIgtFHbyDiddXDJ_73oPD3eRjrMym8QB0n81opdHBKPXe8Ywyt9fjsSEBTqgS2MP0ywi_K27yiuSYfo82VTak4CU1vzPDJ0SAt6VU9ZR98.Jbf4gVOck4kwZKKo_Z0qmOtb-fzX9zDeD5lL6ry1fXI&dib_tag=se&keywords=the+new+menopause+dr+mary+claire+haver&qid=1782843176&sprefix=the+new+me%2Caps%2C181&sr=8-1]. episode S2E44: It Will Be Ok - with Christine Fusco artwork

S2E44: It Will Be Ok - with Christine Fusco

This week I have the privilege of interviewing my mom. She was on a previous episode for Mother's Day when I spoke with her, my mother-in-law, and my sisters and after, we commented how well she did and how much perspective we gained from her insight. I was really excited to find a time to have her back on the show. She has often told me she would have no idea what to speak about, but as I always say, everyone has a story and I encouraged her to speak about her recent move to North Carolina which then led to her giving us an understanding of all of the moves she's made with my dad - 10 times to be exact. My mom also spoke about her thoughts on Nathan's - my son's - diagnosis and remembers the call she received from me just after we heard the news. Although unrelated to the move, related to the message she wanted to convey throughout our conversation. I know you'll learn along with me as she reminds us how decisions we make affect our own lives as well as so many lives around us and that no matter what - it will all be ok!

episode S2E41: Sky's the Limit - Focusing on the Can, Not the Can't with Brenda Marra artwork

S2E41: Sky's the Limit - Focusing on the Can, Not the Can't with Brenda Marra

This week on the Show Me the Way Podcast, I was so excited to welcome back a Season 1 guest, the incredible Brenda Marra! Brenda is a beautiful example of what happens when determination, connection, and love come together. She shared an update on her daughter Renna’s journey with Pitt Hopkins syndrome — and the incredible progress Renna continues to make. At 6 years old, she has finished kindergarten and continues to surpass expectations every single day! Since her first episode, Brenda has grown Renna’s Corner into an amazing resource for families, launched the podcast Renna’s Corner Conversations, and continued advocating, connecting, and creating opportunities for others. One of the most inspiring parts of our conversation was hearing about Brenda’s fundraising journey to help Renna find the perfect service dog through 4 Paws for Ability. What started as an idea turned into an incredible shoe donation fundraiser that raised over $30,000! Brenda reminds us to ask questions, make connections, try new things, and never put limits on what our children can do. I love how she focuses on Renna’s abilities rather than her challenges. This conversation left me inspired, motivated, and reminded of the power of a mom who refuses to stop believing. ❤️ Listen now and be encouraged by Brenda and Renna’s incredible story! Please visit Renna's corner for more information on all Brenda shared - https://rennascorner.com/fundraising/. And don't forget to follow on Instagram - https://www.instagram.com/rennascorner/. Finally, please visit the organization Brenda mentioned for the service dog - https://www.4pawsforability.org/.

episode S2E40: We Can Do Hard Things with Hope, Joy and Love - with Dr. Norrine Russell artwork

S2E40: We Can Do Hard Things with Hope, Joy and Love - with Dr. Norrine Russell

This week on The Show Me the Way Podcast, I had one of the most meaningful conversations I've had yet. I connected with Dr. Norrine Russell through PodMatch, a platform I've mentioned before. Something about her story—and her warm, genuine smile—immediately caught my attention. After receiving a thoughtful introduction message from her, I knew she truly understood the heart behind The Show Me the Way Podcast. From the moment we started talking, we clicked, and I felt certain that God had placed her in my path for a reason. Norrine courageously shares her journey through infertility and the joy she experienced when she finally welcomed her son into the world. However, motherhood quickly brought unexpected challenges. Her son suffered from severe eczema as a baby and later faced additional struggles, including ADHD, anxiety, mood disorders, and eventually an autism diagnosis. Recognizing that her family's needs required a different path, Norrine made the difficult decision to leave a career she loved so she could better care for her son and her younger daughter. While her journey as a mother was often challenging, she reflects on how much her son and daughter have taught her along the way. Inspired by her own family's experiences, Norrine ultimately found a new professional calling, dedicating her work to helping children and families navigate ADHD, anxiety, and autism. What began as a mother's desire to help her son grew into a mission to serve countless others. Now, with both of her children in their teenage years, Norrine shares how much she treasures the relationships they have built together. She also celebrates her son's incredible growth and success as he prepares to begin college—a milestone that reflects how much he has overcome. Throughout our conversation, she spoke with immense pride about both of her children, and her constant smile was a beautiful reflection of the love she has for them. Norrine's story is one of perspective, perseverance, and unconditional love. She reminds us that we are capable of doing hard things and that joy, hope, and love can carry us through even the most difficult seasons. I know you'll love this conversation as much as I did. Take a listen, and if it speaks to you, please share it with someone who could use a little encouragement today. And please visit https://russellcoaching.com/ to learn even more about all of Norrine's projects including her podcast - ADHD, Autism, & Anxiety - Breaking Out of the Box.
