Descripción

Wendy Valentine is the bestselling author of Women Waking Up:  The Midlife Manifesto for Passion, Purpose, and Play, and host of the top 1% podcast, "The Midlife Makeover Show." Before Wendy became a leader in midlife reinvention, she hit what looked like rock bottom, a “perfect storm” for which she did not plan. In her mid-forties, she faced a peaceful but painful divorce, uprooted her life across the country, shouldered tons of debt, walked away from a job she no longer loved, and lost her brother. She recognized that she was sleepwalking through life (as we all at some point do), buried in monotony, debt, grief and obligations. So, she made a radical pivot. She became her own best friend. She confronted her fears, restructured her mind and life and chose to live on her terms. That breakdown-to-breakthrough journey became the bedrock of everything she teaches. Now, Wendy empowers others to rewrite the narrative of aging, identity, and reinvention, not with the usual platitudes, but with deeply practical tools, fierce humor and the kind of radical honesty that actually moves people forward. Splitting her time between Portugal and traveling the U.S. in her RV, Wendy is living proof that life gets bigger, not smaller, with age. In this episode, Wendy speaks to: * Break Free and Reinvent Yourself (7-step FREEDOM Framework to go from stuck to unstoppable): Wendy shares her signature FREEDOM Framework, a 7-step method guiding others from feeling stuck and invisible to living vibrant, purpose-driven lives.  * Rebalance Your Life from the Inside Out (How to use the Wheel of Midlife to find your focus): Help pinpoint which of the eight core areas of life need the most attention. * Design the Life of Your Future Self (The New You Blueprint for becoming who you’re meant to be): A visionary journaling and meditation practice that helps you align with the version of yourself you’re ready to become. It’s a practical tool for upgrading daily habits, relationships, and long-term dreams. * Rise from Breakdown to Breakthrough (The ACE Method to turn emotional overload into empowerment): Shift from emotional overload to emotional empowerment. Whether it’s anxiety, grief, or anger, this technique guides you towards peace, gratitude, and personal power. * Set Boundaries That Stick (The 4 D’s for guilt-free limits that protect your peace): Boundary-setting that goes beyond just saying “no.” This empowering framework helps you identify what drains you, define your limits, and protect your time, energy, and mental health (without guilt or apology.) * Midlife as a Beginning, Not a Breakdown: How identity shifts (divorce, empty nest, menopause, career change) become catalysts for reinvention. Wendy’s bestselling book, Women Waking Up: The Midlife Manifesto for Passion, Purpose, and Play [https://scoutsagencycom.tinyemails.com/c/eyJ1Ijo0NTU2NiwibSI6MzU4MzEwNTA1LCJsIjoxNzg5MjM0fQ.S1G-epnSSpM7KMqGcVHq8n3XjwVUUyNS83u2iSFXOOE.html], flips the script on what midlife is supposed to look like. Instead of treating it like a crisis, she positions it as a wake-up call, a chance to reinvent, reclaim, and rise. Through raw storytelling and her seven-step FREEDOM Method, she guides others from burnout and “autopilot living” to clarity, confidence, and bold new beginnings. If you feel like you are running out of time or waking up to the fact that you want more, Wendy is the voice that will remind you that your next chapter hasn’t even started yet. episode A Conversation with Kathleen Conner, Coach and Expert in Purposeful Living artwork

A Conversation with Kathleen Conner, Coach and Expert in Purposeful Living

Kathleen Conner is the woman everyone calls when they need something—ranch hand, stucco guy, chief bottle washer—you name it. Known as the unofficial “mayor” and “Angie’s List of People,” she built a life of service as a business owner, wife, mother, volunteer and humanitarian. At 53, she realized she had built a perfect life serving everyone else while becoming nothing to herself. This awakening launched her transformation from depletion to authenticity. Kathleen spent 16 years building the “perfect life” that was perfectly wrong for her. At 53, she hit rock bottom, losing herself to roles like The Good Employee, The Perfect Mother and The People Pleaser. That awakening led to her transformation: losing 47 pounds, getting sober, and reclaiming her identity. Today, Kathleen helps women stop performing their lives and start living them. With a mix of candor, humor, and empathy, she shares raw stories of being successful yet miserable, helpful yet depleted, and needed yet lost, while offering women a way to align head, heart and soul so they can finally live lives that feel as good as they look. Guided by her father’s wisdom about givers and takers, Kathleen now teaches women how to give with intention and receive without guilt. Her mission is to help women break free from the boxes they didn’t even know they were in—and build lives that feel as good as they look. In this episode, we discuss life transitions and wake-up calls, finding yourself under all the roles you play and more. Kathleen joined us from Colorado.
