In this episode of the Bee Formless™ Flow Driven CEO & VC Podcast, I connected with Vaishali James to explore life, leadership, business and venture capital from the inside out through identity, inclusion, consistency and the deeper systems still shaping who gets funded, who gets heard and who is expected to stay small. Vaishali is Co-Founder of Sangatna Angels, an investment platform supporting women entrepreneurs through capital, community and inclusive growth. What I appreciated most throughout this conversation was the calmness and grounded clarity she brought to topics that can often become reactive or overly politicised. Instead of speaking about inequality through frustration, and anger, Vaishali spoke through lived experience. Growing up in a deeply traditional environment where boys were encouraged toward education and opportunity whilst girls were taught caregiving and sacrifice, she saw very early how differently women and men were conditioned to move through the world. That lived experience now shapes the way she approaches investing, leadership and ecosystem building, with identity and consistency, playing a big part. Vaishali shared that whether you are building a company or building yourself as a founder, the external story and the internal truth must always remain aligned. We also spoke deeply about the funding gap women still face globally and the reality that women are consistently asked risk-based questions in investment conversations whilst men are far more often asked about growth, scale and expansion. This really needs to change.
