Descripción

In this episode of Bible Chapter by Chapter, we walk verse by verse through Philippians Chapter 3 — the most autobiographical chapter in the letter, and one of the most searingly honest passages Paul ever wrote. Paul opens with a sharp warning. Beware of the dogs. Beware of those insisting that something must be added to Christ to make you fully right with God. And then he does something unexpected — he builds his own case for why he could trust in the flesh more than anyone. And then dismantles it entirely. Circumcised the eighth day. Of the stock of Israel. Of the tribe of Benjamin. A Hebrew of Hebrews. A Pharisee. Blameless under the law. A résumé that by every external standard was exceptional. And Paul looks back at every item on it — and uses a word that still stops readers cold. Refuse. Not because those things were worthless. But because of what he found on the other side of counting them loss. Yes most certainly, and I count all things to be loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus, my Lord. We work through six movements in this chapter. The warning against false confidence in the flesh. Paul's remarkable credentials — and what made him qualified to speak about them. The great revaluation — everything moved from the asset column to the liability column, for the surpassing worth of knowing Christ. The intimate description of what that knowing actually looks like — the power of the resurrection, the fellowship of his sufferings, conformity to his death. The relentless forward press — one thing, forgetting what is behind, stretching toward what is before. And the contrast between two kinds of people — those who mind earthly things, and those whose citizenship is in heaven. Is there something you are trusting in — alongside Christ or instead of Christ — to make you right with God? Leave your honest answer in the comments. Is Satan Real? — The Most Direct Evidence From Scripture And What A Balanced Answer Actually Requires (Part 1 of 4)

Is Satan real — or is he a symbol, a metaphor, a way of talking about human evil in personal terms? This is the question that every other question about the devil depends on. And the most compelling starting point isn't church tradition or theological inference. It's the words of Jesus. In Part 1 of Satan: What the Bible Actually Says, we walk through the full biblical portrait — from the Old Testament appearances in Genesis 3, Job, and Zechariah, to the most direct evidence in the New Testament: the consistent testimony of Jesus Himself. Jesus spoke about Satan more than any other New Testament figure. He described watching Satan fall from heaven. He faced him personally in the wilderness in Matthew 4. He called him a murderer from the beginning and the father of lies in John 8:44. He identified him as the prince of this world in John 12:31. He said Satan had requested permission to sift Peter like wheat. He described eternal fire prepared specifically for the devil and his angels. The most straightforward reading of those statements treats Satan as a real personal being with a real history, real present activity, and a real future judgment. We name that clearly while also naming two things that must be said alongside it: Satan is not equal to God, and he is already defeated. The cross decided that. Revelation 20 completes it. We are not here to be fascinated by the enemy. We are not here to be frightened of him. We are here to understand what God's Word actually says. 📖 Scripture references from the World English Bible (WEB)🎧 Calm, verse-by-verse format📺 Part 1 of 4 — Satan: What the Bible Actually Says 📺 Watch more Bible studies here: https://www.youtube.com/@BibleChapterByChapterStudy [https://www.youtube.com/@BibleChapterByChapterStudy]🎧 Listen on Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/show/6MnjQf5YAsxCAhha7jCSGD [https://open.spotify.com/show/6MnjQf5YAsxCAhha7jCSGD]🌐 Visit us at: www.biblechapterbychapter.com [http://www.biblechapterbychapter.com] #Satan #IsTheDevilReal #WhatDoesBibleSayAboutSatan #BibleStudy #BibleChapterByChapter #ChristianPodcast #Faith #Scripture #SpiritualWarfare

1 Thessalonians 1: Work Of Faith, Labor Of Love, Patience Of Hope — The Shape Of A Real Conversion

In this episode of Bible Chapter by Chapter, we walk verse by verse through 1 Thessalonians Chapter 1 — the opening chapter of the earliest letter Paul wrote, sent to a church he had planted in three weeks before being driven out by a riot, and had been genuinely worried about ever since. The news that reached him was not what he feared. The Thessalonians were holding. More than holding — they had become an example to the entire region. Their story was traveling. Paul arrived in cities to find people already knew what had happened in Thessalonica. This chapter opens with one of Paul's most compressed and most revealing descriptions of genuine faith: your work of faith and labor of love and patience of hope. Three nouns, three words attached to each that tell you what these look like when they are actually present. Faith that works. Love that labors past the point of convenience. Hope that produces endurance rather than passivity — the active ability to remain under pressure without collapsing. We work through four movements. The triad of verse 3 and what it means that each of these produces something visible and outward. The gospel arriving not in word only but in power and the Holy Spirit — and what Paul means by that distinction. The combination of affliction and joy that made the Thessalonians impossible to explain by ordinary means and turned them into an example that left an impression across Macedonia and Achaia. And the three-tense portrait of their conversion: turned from idols, now serving a living God, waiting for his Son from heaven — Jesus, who delivers us from the wrath to come. When you think about what your faith looks like to the people around you — what do they see? Leave your honest answer in the comments. The Most Dangerous Letter Ever Written to the Church | Colossians Summary

In this episode of Bible Chapter by Chapter, we step back and look at the whole letter — the full arc of Paul's Letter to the Colossians, from the portrait of Christ in Chapter 1 to Paul's handwritten close in Chapter 4. The letter asks one question from beginning to end: is Christ enough? Not as a theological position — as a daily, practical reality when the voices around you, or inside you, suggest that what you have needs supplementing. This overview covers every chapter. Chapter 1: the prayer for wisdom that produces a walk, and the most concentrated portrait of Christ in Paul's letters — the image of the invisible God, the Creator of all things, the one in whom all things hold together, the fullness dwelling in Him, and the mystery now revealed: Christ in you, the hope of glory. Chapter 2: the warning named directly — be careful that no one robs you — and the two verses at the center of the letter: in him all the fullness of the Godhead dwells bodily, and in him you are made full. The cross's complete work shown, and the religious system offering itself as a supplement demolished as shadow rather than substance. Chapter 3: the hidden life — you died, your life is hidden with Christ in God — and everything that flows from that fact, from the putting off and putting on to the community where Christ is all and in all, down to marriages, parenting, and daily work. Chapter 4: steadfast prayer, speech seasoned with salt, and a list of names that shows what the gospel looks like in actual people — including one man, Demas, whose ending Paul cannot yet see. And Paul, taking the pen himself: remember my bonds. Grace be with you. The last word is not the argument. It is grace. 📖 Scripture reading from the World English Bible (WEB)🎧 Calm, verse-by-verse devotional format📺 New episodes every chapter 📺 Watch more Bible studies here: https://www.youtube.com/@BibleChapterByChapterStudy [https://www.youtube.com/@BibleChapterByChapterStudy]🎧 Listen on Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/show/6MnjQf5YAsxCAhha7jCSGD [https://open.spotify.com/show/6MnjQf5YAsxCAhha7jCSGD] Subscribe to Bible Chapter by Chapter and follow along as we walk through God's Word — one chapter at a time. #BibleStudy #Colossians #ChristAboveAll #IsChristEnough #ChristianPodcast #BibleChapterByChapter #Scripture #Faith #Devotional #PaulsLetters

Colossians 4: Prayer, Speech, And A Community Of Real People — How The Letter Ends And What It Leaves Behind

In this episode of Bible Chapter by Chapter, we walk verse by verse through Colossians Chapter 4 — the closing chapter of the letter, where the theology of Chapters 1 through 3 lands in prayer, speech, and a community of named, specific, costly people. Paul opens with two instructions that carry more weight than their brevity suggests. Continue steadfastly in prayer, watching therein with thanksgiving — not emergency prayer but persistent, eyes-open, grateful prayer from a man in chains who is not asking to be released, only asking for an open door to speak. And let your speech always be with grace, seasoned with salt — not a formula or a script, but the attentiveness to each specific person that produces exactly the right response for that moment. Then the greetings. Most readers skim them. They shouldn't. Every name is a person, and every person is evidence of what the gospel actually produces. Tychicus, sent to comfort hearts. Onesimus, the runaway slave now called faithful and beloved brother, which is Chapter 3's declaration that there is no bondservant or free made flesh in one name. Aristarchus, fellow prisoner. Mark, restored and commended. Epaphras, still striving in prayer for a church he founded. Luke, called not the evangelist but the beloved physician. And Demas — just a name here, with no shadow yet of what 2 Timothy will reveal. And then Paul, taking the pen himself, writes the last two sentences of the letter in his own hand. Remember my bonds. Grace be with you. The last word is not the argument. It is grace. Which is where every letter Paul wrote begins and ends. #BibleStudy #Colossians #ChristAboveAll #RememberMyBonds #ChristianPodcast #BibleChapterByChapter #Scripture #Faith #Devotional #PaulsLetters

The Only Way to Truly Change Your Life From Within | Colossians 3

In this episode of Bible Chapter by Chapter, we walk verse by verse through Colossians Chapter 3 — the pivot point of the letter, where the theology of who Christ is becomes the practice of how you live. Paul opens with a fact, not a command. You died. And your life is hidden with Christ in God. Everything the chapter asks flows from that single declaration. The commands are not a ladder to climb toward an identity you don't yet have. They are the description of a life being lived from an identity already given. We work through five movements in this chapter. The hidden life — past, present, and future packed into four verses, establishing the theological ground for everything that follows. Put to death — the specific, named, earthly things that belong to the old self, with covetousness identified as idolatry and the relational failures named one by one. Put on — as God's chosen ones, holy and beloved, a heart of compassion, kindness, humility, meekness, perseverance, forgiveness, and above all love, the bond that holds everything else in place. The community — where the peace of Christ rules, the word of Christ dwells richly, and whatever you do is done in the name of the Lord Jesus. And the household code — Paul introducing the logic of the gospel into marriage, parenting, and work, with the most demanding instructions directed at those with the most power. Is there a gap between who you know yourself to be in Christ and how you actually live? Leave your honest answer in the comments.
