REACT: Churches of Christ Remarriage Interpretations

The Churches of Christ inherited a culture of independent thinking from their Restorationist Movement roots.  That culture, along with their inherited opposition to denominationalism, creeds, and other instruments of constraint (and unity) causes them to read the Scriptures afresh.  That has resulted in a significantly more restrictive view on divorce and remarriage than evangelicalism's majority view.  However, not all Church of Christ pastors agree.  Pastor Mike Hisaw, on his Progressive Primitivist channel ( @TheProgressivePrimitivist ), shared his current view that a remarriage is a mere one-time act of adultery.  The Gospel Broadcast Network ( @GBNTVA ), a major Church of Christ channel, publicly "corrected the error" of Pastor Mike Hisaw.  I react to both views, sharing where I agree and disagree. Debate with Joel Garner on Divorce and Remarriage part 2

Joel Garner ( @joelgarner539 [https://www.youtube.com/@joelgarner539] ) interprets the New Testament to teach marriage permanence, but he disagrees with my view of the exception clause (Mat 5:32, 19:9). Joel critiqued my view, I reacted his his critique.  He then reacted to my video.  In this episode, I am responding to his last video.  This back and forth gives us the opportunity to identify the premises that underly our disagreement so that you have more information and can decide who is right. Unconvincing: Betrothal Interpretation of Jesus's Divorce Exception Clause

Jesus rejects remarriage, but he makes an exception for fornication (Mat 5:32, 19:9). Contrary to popular belief, the Catholic Church does *not* teach that all valid marriages are unable to be dissolved!  Canon lawyer Andrew Kong eloquently explains the three scenarios in which a marriage can be dissolved according to the teachings of the Catholic Church on the @TotusTuusApostolate podcast.  I express my disagreement where I find this teaching deviates from Scripture.
