Fitness and Thinking
Luke Bownes is a competitive bodybuilder and personal trainer based in Nottingham. In this week's episode, we talk about compliments — giving them, receiving them, and why one is so much harder than the other — money, debt and the point at which having enough tips into having too much, and the first moment of being truly seen by someone. We get into Luke's influence on me as a bodybuilder who doesn't take his clothes off, his surprisingly positive experience of competition and how his view on it has evolved over the years, as well as the sunken loss fallacy and life's propensity to fill in the gaps, whether we're most content when we're younger, gaslighting clients into success, choosing to feel shame and pride, hurt people hurting people, and what it feels like to be on-plan/living your best life.
