In this episode of Steel Roses Podcast, I’m opening up about something deeply personal: my upcoming virtual appointment to explore a possible adult ADHD diagnosis. After years of relying on routines, checklists, strict schedules, reminders, and sheer determination to manage motherhood, I’m finally putting myself on the list and seeking answers. We talk about what ADHD in women can look like when it does not match the common stereotype, why ADHD is often missed in girls, and how children may develop coping strategies that hide their struggles at school. I also share how executive dysfunction, brain fog, sensory overload, anxiety, and difficulty focusing can show up in everyday life — especially for moms who are already carrying the mental load of the household. This episode also explores the emotional side of motherhood as kids get older. I reflect on how Mother’s Day has changed for me over the years, from feeling overwhelmed and unseen to experiencing small but meaningful moments of love, support, and recognition from my children. If you’ve been searching for conversations around late-diagnosed ADHD, adult ADHD in moms, executive dysfunction tips, ADHD and anxiety overlap, or how to ask your family for support, this episode is for you. I also share one simple but powerful parenting practice: talking honestly with your kids about what feels overwhelming, so they can build empathy and you do not have to carry everything alone. Is Vaping Really 95% Safer Than Smoking? The Truth About Nicotine, Health Risks, and Harm Reduction

Send us Fan Mail [https://www.buzzsprout.com/2158997/fan_mail/new] The Easy Way to Quit Smoking [https://amzn.to/3Q3G16H] Is vaping really 95% safer than smoking cigarettes? That claim is everywhere, but what does it actually mean — and what is it leaving out? In this episode, we break down the viral “vaping is 95% safer than cigarettes” statistic, where it came from, and why it is often misunderstood as meaning vaping has only 5% of the risk. We talk about the difference between expert estimates, harm reduction messaging, and long-term health data — because when it comes to vaping, nicotine addiction, and your body, the fine print matters. We also look honestly at the harm reduction argument. For adults who smoke combustible cigarettes, switching completely to vaping may reduce exposure to many toxic chemicals created by burning tobacco. But dual use — vaping while still smoking — can limit or erase that benefit. And because vapes are easy to use, highly accessible, and often flavored, nicotine intake can increase quickly without people realizing it. This episode also explores the health risks of vaping beyond nicotine addiction. Vape aerosol is not just harmless water vapor. Nicotine can impact heart rate, blood pressure, sleep, mood, anxiety, and addiction pathways, and it is especially concerning for teens and young adults whose brains are still developing. We also discuss why health organizations like the CDC and American Heart Association continue to warn about possible cardiovascular, lung, and long-term health concerns linked to vaping. If you are vaping, trying to quit, or wondering whether vaping is actually safer than cigarettes, this episode offers a no-spin look at what we know, what we do not know yet, and what finally helped me quit. Subscribe for more honest health conversations, share this episode with someone who vapes, and leave a review with your take: should vaping ads be allowed to say “95% safer”? Perimenopause, ADHD, Anxiety, and the Battle With Late-Night Snacking

Send us Fan Mail [https://www.buzzsprout.com/2158997/fan_mail/new] Your brain can know the “right” choice and still want the cupcakes at 10 PM. In this episode of Steel Roses Podcast, we get honest about emotional eating, late-night snacking, food cravings, anxiety, motivation, hormones, ADHD, perimenopause, and the habits that show up exactly when we feel the least prepared to fight them. We talk about the gap between knowing what supports your health and actually choosing it when stress, exhaustion, hormones, or old coping patterns take over. From hormone cycles and the luteal phase to the way perimenopause and ADHD can impact mood, focus, impulse control, cravings, and self-regulation, this conversation explores why self-awareness is not just a wellness buzzword — it is a survival skill for women’s mental health. We also share a personal story about lifelong weight swings, disordered eating patterns, food addiction, emotional eating, and the constant tug-of-war between wanting change and falling back into familiar habits. One practical takeaway is a simple nightly self-talk strategy that can interrupt late-night snacking, reduce food guilt, and create space for a better choice in the morning. This episode also looks at the bigger picture of midlife wellness for women, including nutrition, reducing processed foods, consistent exercise, prevention, and caring for your body before a health scare forces you to pay attention. A sudden loss of a colleague in his mid-40s is a reminder that life can change quickly, and that self-care, movement, and healthier habits are worth taking seriously now. Then we move into anxiety management with a real example of travel anxiety: the chest tightness, throat pressure, racing thoughts, and worst-case scenarios that can take over before a trip. We walk through a practical step-by-step anxiety tool: name the anxiety attack, regulate your nervous system with slow breathing, use a focus anchor like a fidget, and keep moving forward even when anxiety is loud. If you have ever struggled with emotional eating, anxiety, food guilt, hormone-related mood changes, ADHD, perimenopause symptoms, or the frustration of knowing what to do but not always being able to do it, this episode is for you. You are not broken. You are human, and you can practice your way forward. When Your Past Shapes Your Future: Healing, Choice, and Responsibility

Send us Fan Mail [https://www.buzzsprout.com/2158997/fan_mail/new] Two brothers grow up with the same alcoholic father, yet their lives take completely different paths. When asked why, both give the same answer: “Because of my father.” That story opens the door to a powerful conversation about trauma, resilience, personal responsibility, and how our perception of the past can shape the choices we make in the present. In this episode of Steel Roses Podcast, we explore how childhood trauma, abuse, assault, and painful family patterns can influence the way we see ourselves, trust others, cope with stress, and build our lives. Trauma does not make someone weak, but it can wire our beliefs, reactions, relationships, and sense of safety in ways that are hard to untangle without support. Healing takes work, and support matters. We also talk about what it means to turn pain into purpose. Whether it is breaking generational cycles for your children, building a safer and more stable life, or helping other women who are still living in survival mode, trauma can become a catalyst for change. I reflect on past guests who have transformed violence, fear, and hardship into advocacy, strength, and purpose — reminding us that recovery is possible and resilience is real. This conversation also explores women’s financial independence, family separation, motherhood, and the lessons our children absorb by watching us work, struggle, rebuild, and succeed. Are we chasing stability from a place of fear, or are we building a life rooted in hope, freedom, and self-worth? If you have ever felt torn between honoring what happened to you and choosing to move forward, this episode is for you. Why Nobody Has It All Together: Motherhood, Mental Load, and Real-Life Partnership

Send us Fan Mail [https://www.buzzsprout.com/2158997/fan_mail/new] When someone says, “You make it look so easy,” it can be tempting to smile, say thank you, and keep pretending everything is fine. But in this episode of Steel Roses Podcast, we are pulling back the curtain on the reality so many women, moms, wives, and working parents are carrying every day: the mental load, emotional pressure, invisible labor, and constant expectation to hold everything together. We talk honestly about how curated social media perfection can distort our view of motherhood, marriage, parenting, and family life. From picture-perfect homes to highlight-reel relationships, it is easy to believe everyone else has it figured out. But that constant comparison can quietly fuel anxiety, depression, self-doubt, and unrealistic expectations, especially for teens and young women growing up online. We also share what life looks like behind the scenes for us as real women juggling work, kids, marriage, personal stress, hormones, and the process of exploring an ADHD evaluation as an adult woman. This conversation is about dropping the mask, naming what feels heavy, and reminding each other that nobody truly has it all together. Then we get practical about partnership and communication at home. Viral posts about “the right man” stepping in can sound great, but healthy relationships require more than silent expectations. We discuss how to ask for help before resentment builds, how to make clear requests, how vulnerability can create more support than a blowup, and why every relationship involves tradeoffs. If you have ever felt overwhelmed by the mental load of motherhood, compared your life to what you see online, or struggled to ask for help at home, this episode is for you. Motherhood, Ambition, and the Skills That Make Women Stronger Leaders

Send us Fan Mail [https://www.buzzsprout.com/2158997/fan_mail/new] Motherhood is often treated like a career detour, but what if becoming a mom actually strengthens the exact leadership skills today’s workplaces need most? In this episode of Steel Roses Podcast, we’re challenging the outdated idea that motherhood slows ambition or weakens professional growth. Instead, we’re digging into how motherhood can build powerful leadership skills like decision making under pressure, negotiation, communication, prioritization, conflict management, adaptability, resilience, and time management. This conversation was inspired by a LinkedIn post that stopped me in my tracks and the upcoming Maternal Strengths Report, which is putting real data behind something so many working moms already know: motherhood does not make us less capable. It often makes us stronger, sharper, more focused, and more effective leaders. I also share my own experience of how motherhood changed the way I show up, especially the intensity that comes from fighting for more than just myself. We talk honestly about the hard parts of working mom life too, because deadlines can collide with school events, guilt can hit hard, and the pressure to “do it all” can feel impossible. But there is power in naming those tradeoffs and refusing to believe that not doing everything means we are not enough. We also explore what children learn by watching working moms in real life, especially when work happens at home. They see the conference calls, the stress, the teamwork, the wins, and sometimes the breakdowns. Those ordinary moments matter. They teach resilience, ambition, communication, problem-solving, and perseverance in ways no lecture ever could. If you are navigating working motherhood, career ambition, women’s leadership, or the messy middle of raising a family while building something meaningful, this episode is for you. Listen now, share this episode with a working mom who needs the reminder, and subscribe to Steel Roses Podcast so you don’t miss the follow-up on the Maternal Strengths Report.
