Ep 54: Cover to Cover 1 Kins 8-11, 2 Chronicles 1-9, and Proverbs 1-29

Synopsis: In this episode, we reflect on 1 Kings 8–11, 2 Chronicles 1–9, and Proverbs 1–29, exploring two challenging but hope-filled themes that emerge from Solomon's life and writings. In this episode you will hear: 1) We consider the sobering reality that how we start does not determine how we end. Solomon began his reign with extraordinary wisdom, humility, and devotion to God, yet his story ends with compromise. His life reminds us that wisdom is not merely something we possess—it is something we must continually choose to live by. As we wrestle with Solomon's rise and fall, we are also reminded that only God sees the full story of a person's heart. Our role is not to judge but to encourage one another to keep running the race of faith with perseverance. 2) Conviction is an invitation to transformation. While reading the Bible, it can be easy to feel overwhelmed by our failures and shortcomings. Yet God's conviction is not meant to crush us—it is grow us. Through seasons of dryness, struggle, and exposure, God lovingly refines us, revealing areas where He wants to bring healing, freedom, and growth. The discomfort of conviction becomes an opportunity to become more fully who He created us to be. Ep 53: Cover to Cover 2 Samuel 21-24, 1 Chronicles, and 1 Kings 1-7

Synopsis: In this episode, we reflect on 2 Samuel 21–24, 1 Chronicles, and 1 Kings 1–7, exploring three powerful themes that connect God's faithfulness across generations. In this episode you will hear: 1) We consider David's legacy. Though he would not be the one to build the temple, David faithfully prepared the foundation for Solomon's success. His intentional planning, generosity, and vision created an opportunity for both Israel and the surrounding nations to participate in building a dwelling place for God. What kind of foundation are we leaving for those who come after us? 2) We look at Solomon's famous request for wisdom. Faced with the enormous responsibility of leading God's people, Solomon asked not for wealth or power, but for wisdom. God honored that request, reminding us that wisdom remains a gift available to all who seek it. As James 1:5 teaches, God gives wisdom generously to those who ask. 3) we explore the beautiful imagery of fire from heaven filling the temple and how it points forward to Pentecost. Throughout Scripture, fire signifies God's presence, approval, and power. When the Holy Spirit descended upon the disciples like tongues of fire, God revealed a stunning truth: His presence would no longer be confined to a building. Through Christ, God's people themselves became His dwelling place, carrying His light into the world. Ep 52: Cover to Cover 1 Samuel 14-31 + 2 Samuel 1-20

Synopsis: A late reflection, but a meaningful one—tracing the rise of David, the fall of Saul, and the steady, unchanging character of God through it all. In this episode you will hear: 1) What does the Lord delight in? Not partial obedience, but wholehearted love expressed through obedience. Saul’s compromise with the Amalekites shows how easy it is to justify “almost” obeying when it benefits us. True obedience flows from loving God fully—not just doing what’s convenient. 2) God’s justice and mercy are never in conflict David’s story—through tragedies involving Tamar, Amnon, and Bathsheba—reveals both human failure and divine consistency. Even when justice feels hard to understand, God remains righteous and merciful. Unlike David, God does not play favorites; He responds to genuine repentance with grace, yet sin still carries real consequences. 3) David points us to a better King The hope placed in David ultimately falls short. His life reminds us that even the best human leaders fail. But God’s promise—the Davidic Covenant—was always pointing forward to Jesus Christ, the true King who reigns in righteousness, protects the vulnerable, and fulfills every promise perfectly. A sobering and hopeful reminder: our hearts long for a perfect king—and that longing is only satisfied in Christ. Ep. 51 Cover to Cover Joshua 24-25, Judges, Ruth + 1 Samuel 1-13

Synopsis: A new generation has risen in Israel and shocker of all shockers- they have abandoned the God who rescued them to pursue their own ways. They did what was right in their own eyes believing they could serve both God and "gods." However, we must choose one. Although Judges shows how far we can stray, Ruth and 1 Samuel remind us that God has never forgotten his promise. In this episode you will hear: - First, am I listening to the Shepherd's voice or my own? How do I know if I am? In Judges, the next generation of Israelites abandoned the ways of the Lord taught by Moses and Joshua to follow their own ways. Though we don't like to think so, we are more like them than different. So, how do we learn our Shepherd's voice? - Second, the story of Ruth reminds us that in the chaos of Judges, God had not forgotten his promise. It's a bright spot to see God's faithfulness. Through the love story of Ruth and Boaz will come the world's greatest redemption. - Finally, in Hannah, we are reminded that God meets our greatest needs. While God grants Hannah a baby and even a couple more after Samuel's birth, it wasn't a baby that Hannah so desperately needed, but to know that she wasn't alone in her situation. God saw her and cared for her. Don't we all need that hope? Ep. 50 Rest Mode... Still Loading and We're Celebrating a Milestone!

Synopsis: In this episode, I’m checking in on my word of the year: rest—and how it’s been harder to live out than I expected. I’m sharing a few lessons God has been teaching me about boundaries, trusting His sovereignty, and letting go of striving. If your New Year intentions have started to fade, consider this your invitation to return—with grace, honesty, and a reminder that God’s provision is always enough. In this episode you will hear: * Rest sounded simple—but living it out has been anything but * Boundaries create space for what matters (even when they’re hard to keep) * You don’t have to do it all—God is in control * Striving exhausts, but trusting God leads to peace and provision * It’s not too late to return to what God called you to this year Resources mentioned: Cover to Cover [https://tasteandseek.org/product/bibleinayear/] T+S Bible Reading Plan Anchored in Peace is happening on May 2, 2026 in Allentown, PA! Anchored 2026 Tickets now available!
