Send us Fan Mail [https://www.buzzsprout.com/2508218/fan_mail/new] On today's episode we cover the NCAA Spring Sport action from the weekend. Tennis national championships were won, Lacrosse tournaments reach the semifinals and we recap some of the Softball regional action that got us down to 16 teams. Our FRI is a Show-Cause case, but not one we were expecting to see by the details and who got the Show-Cause order. Finally, CFP expansion remains relevant, and while the ACC was meetings were happening, they were sharing a non-competitive reason they wanted expansion while outing their TV partner for being against it.

Show-Cause Conversations: Mary Ellen Pethel

Send us Fan Mail [https://www.buzzsprout.com/2508218/fan_mail/new] On this edition of Show-Cause Conversations, we welcome on Dr. Mary Ellen Pethel, she is Associate Director and Professor of Global Honors at Belmont University in Nashville, TN.  She is also an author of two award winning books: Title IX, Pat Summitt, and Tennessee's Trailblazers: 50 Years, 50 Stories [https://www.amazon.com/Title-Pat-Summitt-Tennessees-Trailblazers/dp/1621907783], and her most recent book, Howdy! The Minnie Pearl Story [https://www.amazon.com/Howdy-Minnie-Pearl-Story-Charles/dp/B0DYNS18R8] have both won the Tennessee History Book Award. We will be focusing mainly on the Title IX book, individuals that helped make the huge strides along the way such as Pat Summitt, and college sports history around her town of Nashville. We go back through the history of Title IX itself, how it grew from a small blurb on a bill to the opportunities we see today for women in sports. It is great to hear the historical account of important college sports landmarks discussed from someone so well-versed on the subject.  Dr. Pethel is also the Executive Director of Nashville Sites, which provides tours of Nashville that are available from wherever you may be located. Check them out, here [https://nashvillesites.org/].

107: A MAC Cinderella NCAA Championship Run, and Congress Has A Bill For College Sports

Send us Fan Mail [https://www.buzzsprout.com/2508218/fan_mail/new] We have a new NCAA Champion and while notable, it is a team from the MAC making the semifinals of match play of women's golf that is getting the press. Men's Golf championship round starts this weekend, while Softball has reached the Women's College World Series.  The Baseball tournament starts this weekend also, and we take a look at some of the interesting regionals and which 2 or 3 seeds we could see pull an upset.  In our FRI, Pete Golding speaks on tampering, both implying he's been a victim of it, and not necessarily denying he was a participant this past offseason. Finally, Senators from both sides of the aisle have come up with the Protect College Sports Act, and there is some good and bad within it's initial language. We take a look at a few key points we noticed on initial review.

106: Replay Reactions in Spring Sports, and Power Conference Officials Make Themselves Comfortable

Send us Fan Mail [https://www.buzzsprout.com/2508218/fan_mail/new] We are posting Tuesday instead of Monday this week because let's face it, sometimes a holiday weekend gets away from you. Lots of college sports action over the weekend as Lacrosse titles were won, the Women's College World Series is set, and Baseball announced it's (perfect number) 64-team field. We also talk briefly about the ACC, Big Ten and SEC Meetings choosing luxurious locales for their meetings even while claiming spending is out of control in college sports. The 24-team CFP is of course a main focal point. In our review of the weekend in sports we discuss replay and how it impacted a national championship game and conference championship game in different sports. Softball has a SEC-heavy field in OKC, but one SEC team that was knocked out chose the other side of sportsmanship after their elimination.

Show-Cause Conversations: Mark Majewski

Send us Fan Mail [https://www.buzzsprout.com/2508218/fan_mail/new] In our latest installment of our conversation series, we have someone I have been wanting on the show since we started. Mark Majewski [https://www.instagram.com/markmajewski/] is Director of Creative Services for the Boston Bruins and TD Garden. He also has years of experience in college athletics in sports information and digital creation. Whether it was working with a legendary coach for Boston College Hockey or with a national championship winner in Clemson Football, Mark has been at the top of his craft for a long time. During our conversation today we cover a wide variety of topics, and for as long as this episode is, we could have gone longer but hopefully we can save it for another episode. Aside from the current college sports landscape, we also examine what schools can do to be competitive, and yes, how it feels to be a Michigan alum while winning championships have come with some culture challenges.  Ultimately, when I started this show I labeled myself a bar room historian because pulling a chair up the bar and riffing on sports with good friends is the atmosphere I want to be in, and Mark is definitely someone you want to do that with (shoutout Duffys). Hope you enjoy the conversation as much as we did.
