episode Cardio, Measuring Food, and Training Smarter artwork

Cardio, Measuring Food, and Training Smarter

In this episode, I talk about a few things that can make a big difference in your training and overall fitness without overcomplicating anything. I start with something I wish I did differently from the beginning of my own journey, which is adding cardio alongside strength training. I do a quick dive into HIIT and what counts as cardio, and what is good marketing for group classes. From there, I get into measuring food and why it can be useful even if you’re not tracking calories. I explain how having some structure with portions can help you stay consistent, and how it’s also a great tool if you want to take a break from tracking without completely losing control. I also talk about cluster sets, what they are, and how you can use them to build strength when you’re stuck only being able to do a rep or two of something like push-ups or pull-ups. Then I cover pre-workout nutrition, keeping it simple with easy-to-digest carbs, and I get into the nuance of how your approach should change depending on the type of workout you’re doing. Not every session needs the same level of planning, and I explain when it actually matters and when people are overthinking it.
