The YLF Experience Podcast
What do you do when life gets overwhelming, your routine falls apart, and you no longer have the energy to operate at your best? In this episode, I talk about the idea of “bonus mode,” a mindset shift that can help you continue showing up for yourself during difficult seasons without the pressure of perfection. Right now, I’m personally navigating grief after the passing of my dad, and this conversation comes directly from the middle of that experience. Instead of focusing on doing everything perfectly, I’m focusing on the small things I am able to do. A workout becomes a bonus. Laundry becomes a win. Cooking at home instead of grabbing fast food becomes progress. We spend so much time believing that if we cannot operate at 100%, there is no point in trying at all. But life is seasonal. There will be moments where your optimized routine simply is not realistic, and learning how to adapt without completely disconnecting from yourself is one of the most important skills you can develop. In this episode, I talk about: Why “bonus mode” can help you survive difficult seasons Letting go of all-or-nothing thinking How to focus on small wins without guilt Navigating grief, stress, and overwhelm while still moving forward Why sustainability matters more than perfection Learning to assess what you are realistically capable of during hard moments Building a forever active lifestyle that can evolve with life’s challenges This is a reminder that progress is not only measured by your best days. Sometimes the biggest victory is simply continuing to show up in whatever way you can.
