Tomlinson Talks
Yesterday, while walking with my pregnant wife in a local park, a group of urban youths were loitering, littering, hollering, and making the gardens an unsafe place for families. We left, and were followed by a car. A machete was waved at us from the passenger-side window. I filed a police report. The Metropolitan Police recorded the incident as a Public Order offence. But, despite having a description of the youths, and the car's colour, make, and license plate number, they closed the case a few hours later, citing "no reasonable lines of enquiry we can follow". 95 percent of victim-based crimes result in no charges or court summons being brought. Only 10 percent of criminals are caught and face any consequences for the crime they commit. What is the point of the police? As the Henry Nowak case suggests, it seems they care more about you having a negative opinion of the demographics who disproportionately commit these preventable violent crimes than about the crimes or criminals themselves.
