episode My Mum Asked Me The Difference Between ADHD & Autism… And It Broke My Heart cover

Beskrivelse

In this episode, I’m talking about a conversation I recently had with my mum that genuinely stayed with me emotionally. She asked me: “What actually IS the difference between ADHD and autism?” And honestly… it became one of those huge “wow, people still don’t really understand neurodivergence” moments for me. Not because my mum isn’t loving or supportive — she absolutely is. She’s spent her whole life loving neurodivergent people, supporting me through all my quirks, overwhelm, emotional intensity, shutdowns, hyperfixations, impulsivity, burnout, and chaotic AuDHD moments. But that conversation made me realise something really important: If even loving, supportive families still don’t fully understand how neurodivergent brains process the world… then what about the children growing up constantly misunderstood? In this episode I talk about: 💜 the difference between ADHD & autism 💜 why neurodivergent children are so often misunderstood 💜 how behaviours get misread as “bad” or “difficult” 💜 masking, sensory overwhelm & emotional dysregulation 💜 growing up feeling “too much” 💜 late diagnosis & self-understanding 💜 why neurodivergent awareness matters so deeply for families This episode is emotional, honest, funny in places, and deeply reflective — especially for late diagnosed ADHD/AuDHD adults who grew up misunderstood despite being deeply loved. Because sometimes the issue isn’t lack of love. Sometimes people simply were never taught how our brains actually work. Topics include: ADHD, autism, AuDHD, neurodivergence, late diagnosis, emotional dysregulation, masking, executive dysfunction, sensory overwhelm, neurodivergent parenting, misunderstood children, ADHD in women, autistic burnout, and family understanding.

episode My brother, prison and undiagnosed Neurodivergence cover

My brother, prison and undiagnosed Neurodivergence

In this deeply personal Unmasked Diary Room episode, I open up about my brother, our complicated relationship, and the painful reality of watching someone struggle through life feeling misunderstood. We talk about undiagnosed neurodivergence, high intelligence, emotional dysregulation, shame, isolation, and how ADHD/autistic traits can sometimes go unnoticed for years — especially in people who don’t fit the stereotypes. This episode isn’t about excusing harmful choices or romanticising prison. It’s about grief, loyalty, family, and wondering how different life might have been if somebody had recognised the signs sooner. A raw and emotional AuDHD reflection on love, misunderstanding, and the people society often gives up on too quickly. #AuDHD #ADHDPodcast #AutismPodcast #Neurodivergent #LateDiagnosis #MentalHealthPodcast #ADHDWomen #UnmaskedDiaryRoom

Medical Cannabis & ADHD | Honest Conversations, Pros, Cons & Real Experiences

Man On Pause Ellie Audhd Today, Man On Pause joined my podcast, where we spoke about all things medical cannabis, cannabis for medical use alongside different ailments, and ADHD. I went into the conversation without a strong opinion because I honestly didn’t know too much about it beforehand. The discussion made me much more aware of the realities, benefits, and wider conversations surrounding medical cannabis. I’m really grateful to Man On Pause for sharing his knowledge, experiences, and perspective, and for helping bring more awareness to the community through such an open and honest conversation. Honestly, I just want to thank Man On Pause for coming back onto the show. It’s always a pleasure talking with you, and I’m looking forward to having many more interesting conversations together in the future. episode My School Reports Were Screaming ADHD & Autism… Nobody Noticed cover

My School Reports Were Screaming ADHD & Autism… Nobody Noticed

Late diagnosed ADHD and autism explained through the lens of old school reports, masking, burnout, gifted child syndrome, emotional dysregulation and the neurodivergent traits teachers missed for years. In this episode of AuDHD and Then Some, Ellie talks about the classic school report comments so many neurodivergent adults relate to: “Very bright but lacks focus.” “Needs to apply herself.” “Talks too much.” “Distracts others.” Why were so many ADHD and autistic girls overlooked at school? Why did neurodivergent children grow up believing they were lazy, dramatic or not trying hard enough? And why do old school reports suddenly hit differently after a late diagnosis? This episode explores: * ADHD in girls * Autism in women * AuDHD traits * masking in school * late diagnosis grief * gifted but struggling children * executive dysfunction * rejection sensitivity * neurodivergent burnout * school trauma and shame If you were constantly told you had “potential” but struggled silently underneath, this episode will probably feel painfully familiar.
