What if your first response to life wasn’t stress, overthinking, or trying to fix everything yourself, but turning to God? In this message from James 5, we explore a simple but life-changing rhythm for everyday faith: when you’re in trouble, pray. when you’re happy, praise. when you’re sick, call for prayer. It sounds straightforward, but it pushes against our instinct to rely on ourselves first. This teaching invites us into something deeper. Real humility. Real dependence. Real connection with God in every season. We also look at the power of community in prayer, the meaning behind anointing with oil, and the connection between healing and forgiveness. When we bring things into the light, God meets us with grace, freedom, and restoration. This is not just about what to do in hard moments. It is about building a life where God is part of everything. #FaithInAction #James5 #PowerOfPrayer #ChristianLiving #HealingPrayer #FaithOverFear #TrustGod #CowboyChurch #RealFaith #WalkWithGod ---------------------------------------- Hosted on Acast. Going After the One

Why do people wander from faith, community, and the life God intends for them? In this episode of Conversations in the Barn, we explore James 5:19-20 and the image of wandering livestock that sits behind James' final challenge to the church. Most people don't drift away in a moment of dramatic rebellion. More often, it happens slowly through distraction, isolation, hurt, or simply choosing good things over the best things. We'll talk about spiritual drift, repentance, the people who refuse to give up on us when we wander, and why following Jesus means joining the search-and-rescue effort for others. Along the way, I'll share a personal story about my brother, reflect on a timely answer to prayer for rain here in northeast Wyoming, and consider what it looks like to help people find their way home. 📖 Scripture: James 5:19-20 Conversations in the Barn is the podcast of Black Hills Cowboy Church, where we explore faith, Scripture, and everyday life from a Wyoming perspective. #ConversationsInTheBarn #BlackHillsCowboyChurch #James5 #FaithJourney #ChristianPodcast #CowboyChurch #Discipleship #SpiritualGrowth #Repentance #Grace #Wyoming #BibleStudy #FollowingJesus #ChristianLiving #Prayer ---------------------------------------- Hosted on Acast. Ride Herd

Wandering comes naturally, to cattle, sheep, and people. In this message from James 5:19-20, we're reminded that spiritual drifting is a reality for all of us. Sometimes we get distracted by good things instead of the best things. Sometimes we wander because of fear, pride, shame, or simply losing sight of the path God has set before us. Like livestock grazing toward whatever catches their attention, we can find ourselves far from where we intended to be. But God doesn't give up on wandering people. He doesn't settle for 99 out of 100. He pursues every person who has drifted, and He calls His people to do the same. This message challenges us to see the church as more than a place for fellowship and community. We are called to be part of God's search-and-rescue mission. We help those who have wandered return to the truth, the hope, and the life found in Christ. When someone is lovingly restored, the impact reaches far beyond a single moment. Lives are redirected, futures are changed, and people are brought back onto the path that leads to life. Join us as we explore God's heart for the wandering and our responsibility to care for one another along the journey of faith. 📍 Black Hills Cowboy Church #BlackHillsCowboyChurch #CowboyChurch #James5 #TheWanderingSheep #ChristianCommunity #FaithJourney #FollowJesus #BiblicalTeaching #Discipleship #ChristianLiving #SearchAndRescue #ChurchFamily ---------------------------------------- Hosted on Acast. The Snarky Prophet and the God Who Still Listens

What makes prayer powerful? In this episode of Conversations in the Barn, we take a look at James 5 and the surprising example James uses to teach us about effective prayer: Elijah. Elijah called down fire from heaven, prayed for drought, and boldly confronted hundreds of false prophets. But James points us to something even more important than Elijah's accomplishments. Elijah was human, just like we are. Together we'll explore the difference between rightness and righteousness, what it means to align our hearts with God's purposes, why prayer is more about partnership than persuasion, and what we can learn from Elijah's crash under the tree after his greatest victory. We'll also talk about praying for people who have hurt us, persevering in prayer when answers seem delayed, and why the story of Elijah praying for rain feels especially relevant as many in northeast Wyoming continue to pray for much-needed moisture. Whether you're feeling spiritually strong, exhausted, discouraged, or somewhere in between, this conversation is a reminder that the power was never in Elijah. It has always been in the God who listens. The Secret to Powerful Prayer Isn't Perfection

What if powerful prayer isn't reserved for spiritual superheroes? In this message from James 5, we take a closer look at the life of Elijah—a man Scripture says was just like us. He experienced fear, weakness, and failure, yet God used his prayers in extraordinary ways. His effectiveness didn't come from perfection; it came from living in alignment with God's heart and purposes. Too often, we approach prayer as a way to present our plans to God and ask for His blessing. But Jesus taught us to pray, "Your kingdom come, Your will be done." Effective prayer begins when we stop trying to get God on board with our agenda and start seeking His. The goal is not simply to be right, but to be righteous—to understand what matters to God and join Him in what He is already doing. Join us as we discover how prayer becomes powerful when it flows from a heart surrendered to God's will. When we align ourselves with His purposes, we become participants in bringing heaven's influence to earth. 📍 Black Hills Cowboy Church #BlackHillsCowboyChurch #CowboyChurch #Prayer #James5 #Elijah #PowerfulPrayer #FaithInAction #ChristianLiving #BiblicalTeaching #FollowJesus ---------------------------------------- Hosted on Acast. Overcoming Spiritual Procrastination

What are the “frogs” you’ve learned to live with? In this message from Exodus 8, we look at one of the strangest responses in Scripture. When Pharaoh is given the chance to be free from the plague of frogs covering Egypt, he tells Moses, “Tomorrow.” Why wait one more day? That question reveals something deep about the human heart. Like Pharaoh, we often delay the very changes God is calling us to make. We postpone forgiveness, obedience, healing, discipline, repentance, and joy, convincing ourselves there will always be a better time later. But delayed obedience slowly hardens the heart. The longer we tolerate the “frogs” in our lives, the more normal they become. This message is a challenge to stop putting off what God is calling you to do today. Identify the areas you’ve been avoiding, take the first faithful step, and remember: this is the day the Lord has made. Don’t wait until tomorrow to experience the freedom God wants for you today. #Faith #ChristianMessage #Exodus8 #BibleTeaching #ChristianLiving #FaithInAction #JesusChangesEverything #TrustGod #CowboyChurch #BiblicalTruth #SundaySermon #WalkByFaith ---------------------------------------- Hosted on Acast.
