We’ll explore key Scriptures like Romans 12, 1 Corinthians 12, and Ephesians 4 to unpack the purpose and power of these gifts—and how every believer has a role to play in building up the body of Christ. The Bible states that "...God has not given us a spiritof timidity, but of power and love and -->self-discipline.<-- (2Ti 1:7 LSB). In Week 5 of Discipleship 103 we continued our series discussing "Spiritual Disciplines." Spiritual disciplines are practices we do regularly that with the power and grace of the Holy Spirit, can help us change our sinful habits into good habits that make us more like Christ and connect us closer to God. They are life patterns that direct us to God and disciple us more fully into thelikeness of Jesus Christ - For more information please contact us at greaterworksdiscipleship@gmail.com. - Visit our website at www.greaterworkdiscipleship.com- For information on taking courses with Greater Works please visit https://greaterworksdiscipleship.thinkific.com/

In Week 4 of Discipleship 103 we continued our series with a discussion on the "Fruit of the Spirit." This fruit (“product, result, gain, outcome, harvest) is the manifest evidence one may expect from a life in which the Spirit of God is living and reigning. These qualities are to be found in believers because of the change the Spirit of God has made in them. The word fruit indicates that the issue in this matter is not what man can do. A fruit is not something that is made or done. The ‘fruit of the Spirit’ are not human products but the result of God’s Spirit dwelling within men. The singular - "fruit" of the Spirit, shows that the nine virtues mentioned are not different jewels, but are different facets of the same jewel. All of these qualities are found in every believer who is led by the Spirit. For more information please contact us at greaterworksdiscipleship@gmail.com. In Week 3 of Discipleship 103 we continued our series on "How To Study The Bible" by learning about the "The Interpretive Journey," a 4-step process to biblical interpretation including: 1) Grasp The Text In Their Town; 2) Measure The Width of the River To Cross; 3) Cross The Principlizing Bridge; 4) Apply The Text In Our Town. After this, in preparation for studying the "Fruit of the Spirit," we placed the class in four groups and challenged them to study specific verses in Galatians and use the various resources (commentaries, bible handbooks, etc) to discover the CONTEXT of the verses. Finally, we provided an overview of the epistle of Galatians to help our students understand the immediate context of the discussion of "Fruits of the Spirit," in light of the larger context of Paul's writing to the Galatians. NOTE: From the 36:54 - 1:02:27 mark we are in breakout rooms so there is no recording during that time. This series is designed to help Christian disciples learn how to read and study the bible in its proper historical, cultural, geographical, linguistic and literary context.
