Beskrivelse

How long could you go without a shower? A week? Three months? For thousands of people experiencing homelessness and hygiene insecurity across Oklahoma, it's not a hypothetical - it's everyday life. And the impact goes far deeper than physical hygiene. Without consistent access to a shower, people lose confidence, dignity, and the sense that they matter to the world around them. In this episode of Humankindness at Work, you'll meet Evan Dougood, founder of the Be Heard Movement, a unique mobile outreach organization serving people experiencing homelessness and hygiene insecurity in Tulsa and Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Evan's story includes couch-surfing and navigating the kind of instability that most teenagers never face. While playing college basketball in Pennsylvania, his father fell ill in Tulsa, and Evan left everything behind. What he found there changed the course of his life. Be Heard started with a camera and Evan’s desire to tell the stories of Tulsa’s homeless youth. It has become a story of empathetic ingenuity at its finest. Be Heard brings shower and laundry trailers, a clothing trailer and more directly to those who need it. In this conversation, you'll hear: • Why hygiene access is a human dignity issue • How Be Heard serves those experiencing homelessness and hygiene insecurity • The partnership model that brings together churches, city government, and businesses • The world's first virtual volunteer vending machine • What it looks like to truly see and honor your neighbor This episode will challenge the way you think about homelessness, hygiene, and what it means to be a good neighbor. From Surviving to Supported: One Mom's Mission to Change Parental Mental Health with Vanessa Rio

When Vanessa Rio became a mom, she expected the hard parts. She didn't expect to feel so completely alone. No sleep. Little support. And a healthcare system that told her what she was feeling was "normal" - and to just enjoy every moment. Sound familiar? Instead of accepting this normalcy, Vanessa did something remarkable: she built the support system she needed, and then opened it up to parents everywhere. She founded Mothering Minds - the United Kingdom's first platform offering online therapy and support groups for new and expectant parents. And then? She picked up her family and moved off-grid to the Philippines in search of the village of support she'd always wanted. In this episode of the Humankindness at Work Podcast, Vanessa shares about: ✨ The mental health crisis hiding inside new parenthood ✨ Why modern society has "de-centered" the mother ✨ How to build your own village, even in an individualistic culture ✨ Simple ways all of us can show up for the parents in our lives LEARN MORE ABOUT MOTHERING MINDS [https://motheringminds.uk/] HOST AND EXECUTIVE PRODUCER: Jennifer Clark Humankindness at Work Podcast website [https://jennifersvoice.com/podcast-home] ➡️ FOLLOW THE PODCAST ON SOCIALS! From Chicken Wings to Clean Water: How Saying Yes Changes Everything with Chris Turney

What do chicken wings, a Kansas City attorney, and clean water have in common? More than you'd ever guess. 🐔💧 In this episode of the Humankindness at Work podcast, host Jennifer Clark sits down with Chris Turney — litigation attorney and founder of Wings for Water, a nonprofit chicken wing competition that is 10 times larger than the current world record holder. Every vote cast at the event goes 100% to clean water projects around the world. Chris shares the unlikely story of how a church silent auction, a Royals game, and one boastful friend sparked a mission that has now funded clean water filtration systems in villages across the globe. This is a conversation about community, purpose, saying yes to weird ideas, and discovering the "hidden skill" you didn't know you had. Whether you're a nonprofit leader, a small business owner, or someone who simply wants to make a difference where you live — this episode will inspire you to take the first step.
