The South African-born beauty, now based in British Columbia, sat down virtually with LifeMinute’s editor-in-chief, Joann Butler, to talk about stepping into the role of Kaia in Season 5—a character she calls a “gift” after years of darker, more emotionally heavy parts.  Known for cult hits like Battlestar Galactica, Hemlock Grove with Famke Janssen and Dougray Scott, and Limetown alongside Jessica Biel and Stanley Tucci, McClure has built a career across genres. She’s appeared with Jeff Bridges, Julianne Moore, and Alicia Vikander in Seventh Son, and opposite Nick Jonas in Careful What You Wish For.  She credits those experiences with shaping her craft, recalling the quiet collaboration of Bridges and the transformative on-camera presence of Moore. Now, with Virgin River, she’s embracing lighter, more layered storytelling—while fans continue to connect with Kaia’s independence and emotional depth.  Off-screen, McClure’s life is just as grounded: she prides herself on honing a green thumb, and cherishes a full-circle love story with her husband.  This is a LifeMinute with Kandyse McClure.

The Grammy-winning artist said the project is about both giving back to longtime fans and connecting with a younger generation through music.  “Evolutions are important,” Wyclef explained, “It’s cool to evolve.” The artist said the idea for Quantum Leap began nearly six years ago after a burst of creativity sent him traveling from New York to Nashville, Jamaica, Brazil, France, and New Orleans to develop the music.  The multi-album project will span several genres and feature collaborations with artists including Lil Wayne, Andra Day, G Herbo, Melissa Etheridge, Drake White, and conversations with Jennifer Hudson for the soulful R&B-inspired material. Reflecting on his career from Fugees to today, Wyclef said he has always believed artists should never be confined creatively. “I can’t be put in a box,” he said. “Technology...it breaks the barriers even more now...It’s a good time to be alive.”
