Welcome to Science on Tap! Dr Lauren Christensen is a professor in the Department of Animal, Veterinary and Food Sciences (College of Agricultural and Life Sciences) at the University of Idaho. Join us as she teaches us about mycoplasma ovipneumoniae, a bacterium that rarely causes respiratory disease in domestic sheep and goats, but poses a deadly threat to their wild counterparts. When domestic herds come in contact with bighorn sheep, the pathogen can spread, leading to severe pneumonia outbreaks impacting wild populations. Don't forget to stay thirsty... for knowledge!
