God can take our pride and change it into something beautiful - if we are willing to take an honest look at where we need to be changed!  In order for God’s church to operate as He desires it, it requires each one of us to lay down our pride and be willing to submit to one another! It requires that we each allow the Holy Spirit to show us where we can deepen our level of commitment to the gospel work being done in the 603 and beyond!

"False humility is a subtle form of pride…a double sin of arrogance cloaked in deceit.” True humility is very difficult if we don’t have a good understanding of who we are in Christ. Christ has made us each a new creation when we began following Him, and this allows us to see that every good thing is from the Father, not of ourselves!

Cynicism is easy. It’s easy to look at the chaos around us and choose to be cynical. Joy, on the other hand, requires immense bravery and a strong heart. It’s not bypassing grief; it’s looking loss in the face and deciding to trust that there’s more to the story, every time. The Philippian church was wrestling with these same questions and issues as they worked out what it means to move closer to Jesus. Pray and ask the Holy Spirit to draw your attention toward what he has for you during this time.

Pride is a lethal enemy of relationships. It prevents us from seeing ourselves clearly, it prevents us from moving closer to others, and it prevents us from cultivating a deeper relationship with Jesus. Pride causes us to feel like we are better off than others, and that can cause us to approach people from a place of judgement. Curiosity helps us refrain from wielding our judgement against others, moving us towards deeper compassion and understanding of those around us.

The story of Scripture isn’t just a story that is good for some people to cope with things. The story of Scripture isn’t one that was made up. The story of Scripture is about God rescuing His people and bringing them back into relationship with Him. The Story of Scripture is about a God that pours his love out towards His creation.
