In this episode of No Need For Postcards, I speak to Amanda Eke. Amanda began solo travelling in her early twenties, despite not knowing anyone else who had done so at that time. Travelling solo at such an early age had a deep impact on her life and career goals. It gave her the opportunity to find herself and do personal exploration. In this chat, Amanda discusses how society is built around couples and she encourages people to break the stigma of being alone in public. She also talks about the benefits of solo travel such as developing adaptability and learning to enjoy your own company. We talked about how travelling solo can improve self-confidence and personal growth, and nurture the best relationship you can have - with yourself. Enjoy the episode. Amanda Eke is a Nigerian American world-renowned Spoken-Word Poet, Artist, Film-Maker, Educator, and Journalist. https://www.amandaeke.com/

Katie Gray - 'Enjoy that time that you get to yourself and just having that choice and flexibility'.

In this episode of No Need For Postcards, I speak to Katie Gray. Katie is passionate about travel & language and combined the two to create Talking Tourist - "a space where language learners can practice speaking with native teachers online before they travel". Katie's travels have taken her to over 30 countries, some of which have been done as solo trips. In this lovely chat, you'll hear how Katie remains mindful of personal safety as a female solo traveller, her determination to start solo travelling and how solo travel inspired her to create a platform that connects language learners with native speakers. Enjoy the episode. You can find out more about Katie and Talking Tourist here https://www.talkingtourist.com

Anne Marie Wells - 'Solo travel represents a certain level of confidence'. Break boundaries, appreciate small moments and believe in the kindness of people.

In this episode of No Need For Postcards, kicking off series two, I speak to Anne Marie Wells. Anne Marie's experience of solo travelling has led to an extended journey long after she flew home. Her travel memoir Happy Iceland, tells of her unique five week trip to Iceland where she went against the norm, used her instinct to speak to local people, listened carefully to what they had to say to lead her to interesting places around the country. Anne Marie's journey to get Happy Iceland published is still on-going and yet after many long years, she talks about her solo travel experience with such love and gratitude. Her message is to break boundaries, appreciate small moments and to believe in the kindness of people. All things we should aspire to do, I think. Enjoy the episode. Anne Marie Wells. Writer. Editor.
