episode The Promise of Networked Geothermal in Philadelphia cover

The Promise of Networked Geothermal in Philadelphia

EPISODE NOTES Clean Air Action Fund explores the potential for networked geothermal to efficiently, safely, and sustainably heat and cool buildings in Philadelphia. Audrey Schulman, co-founder and co-Executive Director of HEET and a national leader in geothermal advocacy, discusses how geothermal networks work, why they are so promising, and how they can provide an opportunity to Philadelphia’s gas utility. Philadelphia Gas Works (“PGW”) is the largest municipally-owned gas utility in the country, with over 500,000 customers and 1,500 employees. At the same time, Philadelphia has committed to being carbon neutral by 2050, and in order for the city to meet that goal, PGW must transition away from providing fossil gas. Learn why thermal networks may be the best path to a just transition for PGW that protects ratepayers, workers, and the environment.  Learn more about Clean Air Action Fund at cleanairactionfund.org [https://www.cleanairactionfund.org/] and about HEET’s work at  HEET.org [http://heet.org]
