Hurricane Katrina

I was living in Mississippi when Katrina took place. At the time I was recording this we didn’t know what this hurricane was to become. This was recorded on the back porch of my home.

During my visit to Izmir I stopped at a friend’s home and visited for a while. The call to prayer started and I thought it would be a great time to hear what a more residential area of the city sounded like. You can hear people walking by, kids playing basket ball and the distant call to prayer. Enjoy (The image of the clock is by Mehmet Aktugan)

During my visit to Turkey in April of 2008 we stayed at a quiet little hotel in the main city. There were businesses and homes around the area. I enjoyed the fact that I could open the windows to hear what was going on around me. You don’t get that in most U.S. Hotels. – Enjoy
