Beskrivelse

Steve Harmon a regular degular film student turned felony murderer? This movie is fairly well described by Brian Lowry from CNN “The film arrives with a timely theme and a cast whose stock has soared in the intervening time, making this one for the time capsule if nothing else... It's just that the movie adds up to less than the sum of its parts.” As you’ll hear there was potential but it misses in crucial areas that could have made it a hit and while it doesn’t take away from the movement it doesn’t further the conversation much by using a well off protagonist from an excellent family.

Episode 7: Night in Paradise

Welcome back to our foreign language deviation with another Korean film! Mob violence and emotional drama make for quite the duo when done right. This film happens to excel in the former with a fascinating insight into Korean gang life based mostly in Seoul. It then completely fails to evoke the emotional response we think they were trying for with the latter. It was very interesting to hear the ranking structure and see a culture basically of gentleman criminals, countered with two dysfunctional terminally ill women who either die to soon for us to care or fall flat in their ability to endear us into caring about their deaths. Acting was fairly decent throughout though with shoutouts to Mun-shik Lee as Captain Park and Seung-Won Cha as Director Ma. Catch ya next time with our first (and maybe last cause it was disastrous, maybe because of the movie it covers) Under the Influence episode for Bad Trip!
