This podcast episode introduces the LLIFE leadership competency model at Mayo Clinic and explores how it shapes leadership development, readiness, and succession planning across the organization — with a particular focus on how women can leverage these competencies to grow their leadership influence at any stage of their career. LLIFE represents five core domains of leadership at Mayo Clinic: • Leads Self • Leads Others • Inspires Others • Forward Thinking • Engages Others The model was developed in response to leadership readiness and succession planning gaps and validated through research, surveys, and input from more than 200 leaders across the organization. The LLIFE framework identifies the competencies and behaviors that most differentiate effective leaders at Mayo. This episode will explore: • The origin and purpose of LLIFE • The validation process and structure • Why trust and critical thinking emerged as essential differentiators • What assessment data is revealing about leader strengths and growth areas • Practical steps individuals can take to develop these competencies
