'Verastruct' with Micah

Micah is a father to 3 and plant enthusiast living in Phoenix with his wife Jess, whose a radical birthkeeper. The Active Witness w/ Jacob Smith

Jacob and Mason are long time friends and sit down casually over beer and ganj to chat freebirth, fatherhood, and friendship. Jacob was initiated into fatherhood at the young age of 20 through witnessing his fiance Delainey’s medicalized birth of their son. 3 years later, they decided they wanted to have a different experience and she freebirthed their daughter. Jacob draws potent comparisons between the 2 and how they shaped him as a father. He goes into what it means to be an active witness in birth, the importance of communication, and how they navigated dynamics around boundaries with friends and family. Jacob and Mason muse about community support in postpartum, funny little moments from the birth, and how essentially, freebirth was a rite of passage into Manhood for both of them. Opting into radical trust - Michael's story

On today's episode, we have Michael. Michael is a loving, supportive partner to my dear friend Brigette and father to their 2 beautiful children. Today, Michael will share about his journey to freebirth. He will draw comparisons between their first birth which was at home with midwives where he simply did what he was told to do and then the freebirth where he opted to radically trust Brigette and to claim his space as the masculine witness and protector. Mason and Michael also go over the importance of nourishment and community in both pregnancy and postpartum as well as, a potent conversation about the power of looking at birth & postpartum through the babies perspective.
