Beskrivelse

🎙️ The Stand Up Guys – Episode 42 Every combat sports fan has a pound-for-pound list. We decided to build ours. On this episode of The Stand Up Guys, we unveil our Mid-Year Pound-for-Pound Rankings, debate the biggest omissions, and explain the philosophy behind how we evaluate fighters. Who belongs? Who doesn't? How much should activity matter? Resume? Eye test? We try to sort it all out. From there, we shift gears and offer some advice for young fighters: If you were starting your career today, who would you sign with? We break down the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and risks associated with boxing's major promoters, from Matchroom and Top Rank to Golden Boy, MVP, and Zuffa. We also take a look at the never-ending stream of pad work and comeback videos, discussing what training footage can actually tell us—and what it absolutely cannot. On the fight side, we review K-1 Revenge from the legendary Korakuen Hall, one of the true shrines of combat sports. The venue may only hold a couple thousand people, but it continues to prove that atmosphere and history matter more than capacity. We also revisit the unofficial rule of the night: bet on the red corner. 🥊 Episode Includes: Mid-Year Pound-for-Pound Rankings * Top 10 countdown * Biggest omissions * Ranking philosophy * Current state of boxing's elite Who Would You Sign With? * Matchroom * Top Rank * Queensberry * PBC * Golden Boy * MVP * Zuffa Discussion * Pad work videos * Comeback footage * What training clips really tell us K-1 Revenge * Korakuen Hall * Ryota Ishida vs Kosei Sekiguchi * Tomoya Yokoyama vs Yuta Matsuyama * Kacper Muszyński vs Seiya Tanigawa * Mahmoud Sattari vs Aslan Koshiyev ONE Friday Fights 157 * Xavier Gonzalez vs Payaksurin * Tayo Zahir vs Mahan Fotouhi * Nongnuk vs Alicia Sanchez Saez * Krungthai vs Tepatip * Jomhod vs Petkongfa Boxing Reviews * Josh Padley vs Aqib Fiaz * Chris Billam-Smith vs Ryan Rozicki A discussion-heavy episode featuring rankings, career advice, combat sports history, and a reminder that sometimes the smallest venues produce the biggest atmospheres. Kash The Flash Interview (Audio Only)

🎙️ We Can’t Believe This Guy Listens to Our Podcast When we first reached out to Kash “The Flash” Gill, we thought we’d be conducting an interview. What we ended up having was a conversation. Over the course of this episode, we got the chance to know a man whose accomplishments in kickboxing speak for themselves: a four-time World Champion, Hall of Fame inductee, community leader, and lifelong martial artist. But more than that, we got to spend time with someone who is thoughtful, funny, generous with his stories, and genuinely passionate about helping others. We talk about fighting, coaching, life after competition, the martial arts community, lessons learned over a lifetime in combat sports, and plenty of topics that have nothing to do with titles or trophies. Most importantly, Kash isn’t just a guest. He’s a listener. Which remains completely baffling to us. As the conversation unfolds, it becomes clear why Kash has been successful both inside and outside the ring. He carries the discussion effortlessly, shares stories from across his career, offers advice and perspective, and even manages to keep us laughing along the way. This wasn’t an interview. It was a chat. And we’re grateful Kash was willing to have it with us. 🥊 Kash “The Flash” Gill 🥊 Four-Time World Kickboxing Champion 🥊 Coach • Mentor • Community Leader A huge thank you to Kash for joining us and for being such a great ambassador for martial arts and combat sports. ⸻ No hot takes. Just honest conversation. 🥊⚡️

The Stand Up Guys #41 #Team Big Daddy Kane

On this episode of The Stand Up Guys, we start somewhere completely outside of boxing. After rapper Max B took a shot at Big Daddy Kane, we felt obligated to make our position clear: Team BDK. Always. That conversation somehow leads us into a discussion of famous Brooklyn fighters before we eventually find our way back to boxing. From there, we head to the SAP Center for what felt like a genuine coming-out party for Amari Jones. Thanks to the California State Athletic Commission and Commissioner Ron Fiore, we were able to experience the event ringside as Jones dominated former world champion Vincenzo Gualtieri and continued building his case as one of the most intriguing young fighters in the middleweight division. We also discuss what the performance means for the current middleweight landscape and the reaction from Bay Area fight fans. We also break down the controversial finish in Oleksandr Usyk vs Rico Verhoeven, including the bell controversy and the broader Giza card, before turning our attention to the latest boxing news and industry chaos. Against our will, we then turn our attention to Floyd Mayweather and Gervonta "Tank" Davis. From lawsuits and financial allegations to exhibition uncertainty and legal trouble, both stories continue to evolve in ways that are becoming increasingly difficult to ignore. Episode Includes: 🥊 Amari Jones vs Vincenzo Gualtieri * Ringside experience at the SAP Center * Bay Area reaction * Current middleweight landscape 🥊 Usyk vs Verhoeven * Controversial stoppage * Mark Lyson bell controversy 🥊 Giza Card * Frank Sanchez vs Richie Torrez Jr. * Jack Catterall vs Shakhram Giyasov * Hamzah Sheeraz vs Alem Begic 💰 Mayweather & Tank * Tyson exhibition uncertainty * Pacquiao / Netflix conflict * $175 million lawsuit * Financial allegations and ongoing questions * Tank vs Schofield * Legal and probation developments ⚡ Quick Hitters * Garcia vs Benn * Opetaia vs Benavidez discussions * Fury exhibition rumors * Additional boxing news 📋 Reviews * O'Shaquie Foster vs Raymond Ford * Dmitry Bivol vs Michael Eifert Podcast Links Amari Jones vs Vincenzo Gualtieri https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HhS0GkRC6Xk [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HhS0GkRC6Xk] Oleksandr Usyk vs Rico Verhoeven (Highlights) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nO7kdBPbnME [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nO7kdBPbnME] Frank Sanchez vs Richie Torrez Jr https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BSvimDZy6bA [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BSvimDZy6bA] Jack Catterall vs Shakhram Giyasov (Highlights) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9Aws6unFsDY [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9Aws6unFsDY] Hamzah Sheeraz vs Alem Begic  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a_iHomLvoX0 [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a_iHomLvoX0] O’Shaquie Foster vs Raymond Ford (Highlights) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZNdrWYmSHLY [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZNdrWYmSHLY] Dmitry Bivol vs Michael Eifert (Highlights) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ihCPyZiQot8 [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ihCPyZiQot8] Nuenglanlek vs Kirill Khomutov https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qy1DBVvPpqY [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qy1DBVvPpqY] One Friday Fights 155 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VhfC-oQOjUg [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VhfC-oQOjUg] Zlatan Ibrahimovic's famous 30-yard bicycle kick vs England https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RM_5tJncHww [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RM_5tJncHww]

The Stand Up Guys #40: Now With Graphics!!!

On this episode of The Stand Up Guys, we open with what may already be our Fight of the Year — the absolute heavyweight chaos of Daniel Dubois vs Fabio Wardley. An all-time kind of fight, the kind that reminds you exactly why boxing still matters. From there, we get into the bigger theme of the episode: accessibility — and why it’s still strangely difficult to simply watch boxing in the United States compared to much of the rest of the world. That conversation naturally leads into a six-month Zuffa Boxing check-in, where we look at what’s working, what isn’t, and whether their approach to presentation, distribution, and visibility is exposing deeper problems within the sport. We also had a technical glitch during recording… which we’ve decided means Zuffa and Paramount+ tried to stop us from telling the truth. For those watching on YouTube, we’ve also upgraded the show with new graphics and visual updates. Episode includes: • Daniel Dubois vs Fabio Wardley • Accessibility and the American boxing viewing experience • Zuffa Boxing — six month deep dive / check-in • Broadcast fragmentation and streaming issues • Technical failures, conspiracy theories, and general boxing chaos A big episode about great fights, bad systems, and why combat sports can still feel easier to find halfway across the world than at your local sports bar. No hot takes. Just honest conversation.
