🎙️ The Stand Up Guys – Episode 42 Every combat sports fan has a pound-for-pound list. We decided to build ours. On this episode of The Stand Up Guys, we unveil our Mid-Year Pound-for-Pound Rankings, debate the biggest omissions, and explain the philosophy behind how we evaluate fighters. Who belongs? Who doesn't? How much should activity matter? Resume? Eye test? We try to sort it all out. From there, we shift gears and offer some advice for young fighters: If you were starting your career today, who would you sign with? We break down the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and risks associated with boxing's major promoters, from Matchroom and Top Rank to Golden Boy, MVP, and Zuffa. We also take a look at the never-ending stream of pad work and comeback videos, discussing what training footage can actually tell us—and what it absolutely cannot. On the fight side, we review K-1 Revenge from the legendary Korakuen Hall, one of the true shrines of combat sports. The venue may only hold a couple thousand people, but it continues to prove that atmosphere and history matter more than capacity. 🎙️ We Can’t Believe This Guy Listens to Our Podcast When we first reached out to Kash “The Flash” Gill, we thought we’d be conducting an interview. What we ended up having was a conversation. Over the course of this episode, we got the chance to know a man whose accomplishments in kickboxing speak for themselves: a four-time World Champion, Hall of Fame inductee, community leader, and lifelong martial artist. But more than that, we got to spend time with someone who is thoughtful, funny, generous with his stories, and genuinely passionate about helping others. We talk about fighting, coaching, life after competition, the martial arts community, lessons learned over a lifetime in combat sports, and plenty of topics that have nothing to do with titles or trophies. The Stand Up Guys #41 #Team Big Daddy Kane

On this episode of The Stand Up Guys, we start somewhere completely outside of boxing. After rapper Max B took a shot at Big Daddy Kane, we felt obligated to make our position clear: Team BDK. Always. That conversation somehow leads us into a discussion of famous Brooklyn fighters before we eventually find our way back to boxing. From there, we head to the SAP Center for what felt like a genuine coming-out party for Amari Jones. Thanks to the California State Athletic Commission and Commissioner Ron Fiore, we were able to experience the event ringside as Jones dominated former world champion Vincenzo Gualtieri and continued building his case as one of the most intriguing young fighters in the middleweight division. On this episode of The Stand Up Guys, we open with what may already be our Fight of the Year — the absolute heavyweight chaos of Daniel Dubois vs Fabio Wardley. An all-time kind of fight, the kind that reminds you exactly why boxing still matters.
