Today is Day 143, and we’re nearing the end of an important chapter in Israel’s story. In today’s reading, we finish the book of 2 Samuel with chapter 24, where we witness David’s census and the consequences that follow—along with a powerful moment of repentance and sacrifice. We then move into 1 Chronicles chapters 21 and 22, which revisit that same event with added perspective, and begin to prepare the way for the building of the temple—a legacy David won’t complete, but faithfully sets in motion. Finally, we turn to Psalm 30, a song of gratitude and restoration—reminding us that sorrow may last for a night, but joy comes in the morning.
