Beskrivelse

Buckle up kids, cause you're in for a ride!  Why should I accept and herald the pilfered art of a colonized people presented to me through the gaze and institutional backing of whiteness? Well, we don't! And on today's episode you're gonna hear exactly why.  It is time to deprogram from the centering of mediocre culture "creation" that does nothing but steal, co-opt or attempt to emulate the brilliance of Black & Brown art and culture. It is time to break free from white dominated media narratives about how to perceive ourselves as the global majority and champion the artists and creatives who's work continues the dialogue and heartbeat of the generations of artists who came before.

Ep.11 Off the Dome & In the Heart Space

If you're driving, put it in park- if you're standing, please be sat. Because today, we are ripping off the bandaid and diving in heart first into the scary wounds of commitment. It is one thing to be committed to liberation on a practical, more logic driven, level, but what does it mean to be dedicated to what Toni Cade Bambara refers to as "the radicalized self"? What does it look like to deject from a culture of surveillance and punishment to seek the still quiet voice of wholeness? This is only part one of this conversation, of which will likely be returned to as we all grow in maturation in this liberative journey. Ep.10 However...(Comma)

It seems that with every new micro-trend or social phenomena our society is thrust into yet another battle against "loserdom". We are told that our human response to inhuman behavior is "cringe" and that our desire to connect will eventually lead to betrayal and heartbreak. Armchair tik-tok therapist tell us to exercise boundaries and insta info-graphics break down in 5 clear steps on how to "quiet quit" our relationships because of our inability to see difference as a relational asset. What if resignation wasn't our only choice? What does it look like to engage in the courageous act of connection,  and turn away from algorithmically dictated social norms?  links! Ep.8 THEE Black History Month Episode

Happy Black History Month, Lunar New Year & Ramadan Mubarak !! Today's episode is one that we took great pleasure in recording and hope that the ideas and topics brought up in this discussion go beyond our microphones and your speakers.  What is your 'why'? How did you come to your belief systems? What are we doing to expand what our ancestors in liberation have laid out before us? What are we not brave enough to confront?..  It is time to decenter the spectacle that is capitalism & white settlerism and become grounded in a belief system that centers our collective future.  links: Substack  [https://substack.com/@place2scream] Insta [https://www.instagram.com/place2scream?utm_source=ig_web_button_share_sheet&igsh=ZDNlZDc0MzIxNw==]

Ep.7 2026 Ins & Outs (The Flip Side of Hope is Trust)

New Year, Same Astrological Mayhem !! It is our first episode of 2026 and we are  reflecting on the spiritual battles endured in 2025, listing some of our 'ins and outs' for 2026 and indulging in reading  our respective astrological horoscopes (provided by Alice Sparkly Kat) for the upcoming Lunar New Year of the Fire Horse. Fascism is formulaic, but as the late Octavia Butler insists, "God is change." How can we better understand and dismantle our internalized structures of violence in order to better embrace and run forward towards revolutionary change?  Follow A Place to Scream on Insta (@place2scream) + Substack [https://substack.com/@place2scream] Follow Ace/ Alice Sparkly Kat on Insta (@alicesparklykat) or visit their site [https://www.alicesparklykat.com]
