Ep.34 - Gary Griffiths

Gary's story goes from 0 to 100 real fast. Growing up in Perth, Gary was kicked out of school in year 9 and sent to ‘Shit Heads TAFE’ and was lead to an early life of theft at the age of 16. Injecting twice a day at 17, in maximum security prison by 18 and homeless at 22. Through his own admission, he feels the court system didn't deal with him as strong as it should have. This is a story of a long road to redemption. One that isn't over yet, because deep down, Gary knows he could slip backwards at any point. Going to jail or rehab is the easy bit. The hard part is consistency and discipline when your out in the real world. Ep.30 - Dion Costigan

Today Mary sits down with one of the first blokes to buy an Are You Bogged Mate? cap, Dion Costigan. They have been mates online for ages, but on a trip into Mexico (Victoria for those of you abroad) Dion actually spoke at one of Marys AYBM events and from that, she wanted you to hear his story too. After a stroke that affected the left side of his brain, Dion found out he had more in common with his Blue Heeler than he realised! Through managing his depression post stroke, Dion has learned to recognise the signs when he is slipping and now knows what he needs to do for himself to pull it up. For Dion, it really does comes back to the simple things in life.
