I went to basic training and shouldn't of been there. In this episode I'll be talking a little bit about that experience, and what happens when you push through something you're not actually ready for. In “Banned from Therapy", I’ll explore what happens when mental health struggles overlap with career risk. In professions such as aviation, the military, and emergency responders, seeking therapy can feel like one has fell on a trip-wire, and the explosion happening is their career ending. Things like licensing reviews or other professional consequences are a real concern. This podcast addresses this tension directly with a combination of advocacy, guest stories, and psychoeducation. Rather than promoting avoidance of therapy, my hope is to increase awareness/education on mental health concepts in a non-clinical way, and increase the institutional understanding of this issue for the general public.
