Beast of Burden
At some point in your fitness journey, you are going to want to give up. It might happen when the scale stops moving. It might happen when your lifts stall. It might happen when training feels repetitive, food feels boring, or life starts getting in the way. That moment is normal. In this episode of Beast of Burden, I talk about the part of the fitness journey people rarely discuss: the point where the original excitement fades and the reality of the work kicks in. At the beginning, it is easy to imagine the transformation. You picture yourself leaner, stronger, more confident and more in control. But then the beginner gains slow down. The timeline starts to feel longer than expected. You realise the basics need to be done for longer than you hoped. That is when people start questioning everything. This episode is about what to do when you reach that point. I cover why progress is not linear, why unrealistic timelines make people feel like they are failing, and why wanting to quit is often a sign that you are moving into the next stage of the journey. I also talk about why things like menopause, injury, medication, GLP-1 use, poor sleep, stress and busy family or work life can all change the timeline, without changing the need for the basics. The key point is this: wanting to give up does not mean you should stop. It usually means you need support, perspective and a better understanding of the timeline.
