Young women are growing up believing their worth is attached to likes, bodies, and how desirable they appear online. Instead of asking: “Do I feel good in this?” The question became: “Will this get attention?” But attention and self-worth are not the same thing. A woman should never have to sacrifice her peace to feel accepted. SISTERHOOD SHOULD FEEL SAFE, NOT COMPETITIVE One of the most powerful things women can do is return to genuine sisterhood. Not silent judgment. Not enabling insecurity. Not competing for validation. Now many women are navigating identity, confidence, and womanhood alone. We need mentorship again. We need honesty again. We need women willing to remind each other: “You do not have to lose yourself to belong.” YOUR AUTHENTICITY IS YOUR POWER The most beautiful woman in the room is rarely the loudest or the most revealing. Understanding the Weight of Our Thoughts It’s easy to fall into a victim mentality when faced with challenges. When I found myself at home washing dishes, my mind wandered to the various pressures and expectations I felt in my life. I could feel a heavy weight settling on my shoulders, leading me to reflect on my past actions and achievements.  The Danger of Negative Self-Talk During those moments of reflection, I started to engage in negative self-talk. I told myself that my efforts were insufficient and that I was not where I wanted to be. This kind of thinking can create a cycle of self-doubt and negativity.  The Power of Gratitude As I continued washing the dishes, I heard a gentle reminder: "Find something to be grateful for." This simple act of shifting focus can be incredibly powerful, especially when you’re overwhelmed. Here’s how I began: 1. Start Small: I listed small things I was grateful for, like having the ability to wash dishes, a home to call my own, and a loving family.   2. Challenge Negative Thoughts: Instead of dwelling on what wasn’t working in my life, I chose to focus on the positives.  Common Mistakes When Practicing Gratitude It's important to approach gratitude mindfully. Many people think they need to find something monumental to be grateful for. However, it’s often the small things that make the biggest impact. Avoid the mistake of dismissing your feelings - it’s okay to acknowledge that you’re struggling while also searching for silver linings. Shifting Your Focus As I practiced gratitude, I felt my spirit begin to lift. I started to notice a change in my energy and outlook. I began to sing songs of praise and shifted my focus back to the larger picture of my life, rather than the small roadblocks.  The Ripple Effect of Gratitude Interestingly, once I began to focus on what I was grateful for, I felt compelled to pray for others. This shift from self to others not only lifted my mood but also created a sense of connection and purpose. I started seeing positive changes not just in my life but in the lives of those I prayed for.  Conclusion Practicing gratitude is a choice we can make every day, especially when challenges arise.
